No, you will only have the journey from the hotel to the park, no problems. We stayed at a Disney designated park years ago, so a little further away, and the transport was easy. If you are staying offsite/villa you have to drive to Downtown Disney first, then park...find a bus to the hotels, then after that go to the parks...a very long journey IMO.0 -
If you have kids then take them out of school, if you're a teacher have a bad back for a fortnight
It's not necessarily about school.
Some people don't get any choice in when they take holiday from work, they are either allocated dates or their company has a set 'shut down' period when they have to take their holiday.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

It should also be pointed out that if you're staying on Disney property and you drive to a park, you get your parking free;)Bankrupt 28/07/08!0

For those who are thinking about getting buses to the parks - if you read the unofficial guide to Disney almost every touring plan recommends getting there for park opening to allow you to do a couple of your 'most wanted ' headliner rides.
If you're stuck on the bus you might be missing our on valuable ride time and spend the rest of the day queueing and trying to get fastpasses. After payoung out well over £200 a head for tickets for your typical fortnight, is it worth losing that for the sake of aorund £8?
Depends on when you're going, but there aren't many times of the year when the parks aren't busy.
Just something for folks to mull over. It's a value for money thing, don't you think? Lose value in the park to get free parking.
Maybe I'm overcautious since we've not been yet - going this Christmas, so the parks are going to be jam packed.
As I said we have just got back from Orlando, so was not peak season, so buses where completely empty. You can also park for free at the water parks and do the same thing, can't remember if you can go direct from them to other parks though. And we took over $1000 with us for 10days and we ran out of money and there was only two of us and thats with out buying food at the parks and only spending about $50 on ourselves for souvenirs. So If i;d have known at the beginning of the holiday we could have saved $12 a day I would have, we prob spent about $100 on parking at disney alone...I would rather of spent it on something else.
Its each to there own really, if its peak season then sure park and pay but if there is no need to rush ( longest we q'd for anything was 20minutes) then I would recommend it. It is all about money saving after all0 -
Flying with VA in August and have heard that we can check in at DTD for the return journey.
We are hiring a car so will still need to return this to the airport. We are staying in a villa in Kissimee so not sure if this is going to be beneficial for us or not (our flight leaves at 20.40 so would give us nearly a full day of shopping before we leave!!)
Has anyone done this and what is your experiences?0 -

We have done this and it is great. You check in, get boarding passes etc and they weigh and take baggage to airport for you. You are left with handluggage (and car!) and the rest of the day to do what you want.
When we did it we had booked through Virgin Holidays so weren't charged a fee.
The chap in the queue behind us though, turned up with about 10 cases, on his own, to check in for his whole family (the rest of whom he'd left in bed at their villa!) he got really narked when told he would only be able to check himself (and his own bags) in!2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

Hi folks, is there much to do with a 2 year old and a 3.5 year old at disney? Or would we be better not bothering with the parks and just doing a Florida beach hol?
Thanks, SFG x0 -

Loads to do - they will love every Disney park/waterpark except Epcot.
But i think id be tempted rather than to go for the 2 week overkill to fit in maybe 5 days in Clearwater/St Petersburg.
Or even go down to Naples.0 -

can't understand why people do this . you have to get up early and drive there , queue up .............. and for what ? so you dont have to leave your bags in the boot of your car all day ........ so what ?
Also I still get to MCO 2 hrs before departure time . drop car off very quickly and check in with plenty of time
I bet you lot who check in at downtown disney turn up ay MCO earlier than me ? So you gain nothing , where as , I can have a lie in and spend the afternoon at Disneyquest0
