Last year we split our stay between disney and Hard rock hotel at Universal, the Front of line privilege you get by staying at Universal is unbeatable. I couldn't do Universal any other way now.

I totally agree - even if you only book for one night and just take a small bag for the stay, it is worth it. You get two days FOTL priveleges then :)

    HI,

I am travelling to disney, staying at the port orleans, in 2 weeks and having never been before don't know the best way to take our money. Should we change it to dollars or take sterling, cash or travellers cheques, pre-paid card or credit card. Is the pre-paid card accepted in Disney??? So many questions??????

Any help on this would be greatly aprreciated.

We took $500 in cash this time but mostly used our CCs - just make sure you keep an eye on what you're spending as it's easy to lose track :D We've brought most of our cash home with us.

In the past we've taken TCs and spent one every morning and used the change from that one for the rest of the day's cash which has also worked well for us.

The prepaid card should be fine in Disney.

For anyone requiring attraction tickets I highly recommend http://www.orlandoattractions.com/
Ordered Disney 4 day base tickets plus 2 extra days free for £158.09 per adult and £132.67 per child. Placed the order on Sunday and they arrived Wednesday via special delivery. Actual tickets and not vouchers.
excellent prices on here. anyone else bought from them? Amazed ith the difference in price on the various webpages, this must be the cheapest! ;)

Attraction tickets direct are good, usually competitively priced with quick delivery of real tickets I've used them twice no probs. You can even pay a deposit if you order over the phone and then make paymets.

For the best advice on Disney World and Florida you really can't beat www.thedibb.co.uk I have been a member on there for years - longer than MSE lol.

the dibb can be overkill and you do get lots of repeation there (mind you you do here also). Anyway check all sources is always good advice.

attraction tickets are good. They even price match and sponsor the Disney Brit podcast too ;)

    yep

but remember you can always buy fastpasses for Universal which may be cheaper than a room. Depends how many of you and when you are there

I would not take sterling at all. You will get hammered on the rate when you chop it in.

If you take a CC unless its an Abbey Zero, Post OFfice or Nationwide one you will get charged a percentage to use it. About 2.75 percent (they might be others that are free).

Travellers cheques are fine and widely accepted and you see people use them everywhere.

The prepare cards like fairfax use I think the Mastercard and Visa systems so they are fine to use

I believe the fast passes you can buy are only valid for one turn on each ride as the stamp or punch the card when it is used, the FOTL with a hotel stay is unlimited.

That is true but I think sometimes that staff turn a blind eye and let you on more than once. It has been reported over Easter though that Universal staff have been red hot on checking the passes and only allowing one use. I've gone for the hotel option as it worked out cheaper for us anyway.

Can I ask which hotel? Have you stayed at Universal before?

We loved it at Hard Rock, we took the boat over in the mornings and it didn't matter how busy the parks were because of the FOTL. The shop inside Hard Rock sells cereal in the bowls and cartons of milk so we ate cereal in our rooms for breakfast.
Beware of the minibar prices are  we never took the tag off ours:rotfl:
