Ive been told by some people who live in Florida that Florida is classed as a winter destination and not to worry about american achool hols as they go else where.....checked uk hols and they mainly start 20th July onwards, I should of left Florida by that date to go miami...

So it shouldn't be too bad...should it?

Apart from the whole of Scotland who start their school holidays at the beginning of July and the US start their school holiday in June and many, many of them holiday in Orlando :) If you can, I'd suggest end of May beginning of June for cooler temps and less people.

Hi, I booked to go for our first trip to Disney in October 2007. I am staying on the Disney site (in the Polynesian) and took advantage of the Disney Dining Plan for my family. In the brochures it stated we would get Starter/Main/dessert & Non Alcoholic beverage with the Table Service Meal.
I am now looking to do Advance Reservations and read on the disney uk website that Disney has changed the offer and no longer offers the Starter.

If this is the case, then I wonder if anyone could confirm where we (and I assume thousands of other people) stand on this issue?

I appear to have paid for something that has now been downgraded but there is no mention anywhere of refunds or compensation?

Before I go back to my holiday company, I wonder if anybody else has noticed this and whether they took it up with their holiday company?

    Hi Rockyvilla

I don't blame you for being fed up, I would be too :(

However I am not sure if you will be able to get anything back from it, as knowing Disney they will have tied the t&cs up tight for this very eventuality. There have been rumours going back quite some time that they were doing this. Your holiday company /tour operator won't have had any say in it.

Who did you book with? I would go back to them and query it, definitely but I'm not sure how far you'll get.

I believe that when Disney did this they actually reduced the price of the deal by $1 per day, which at our present exchange rate is not much! But this might be better than nothing?

On a separate note, and this could be more costly (!) I believe they are no longer including the tip either, which can really add up.

For better advice you would be better posting on www.thedibb.co.uk to see what others have done?

The Poly is an absolutely wonderful resort and I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time. Don't miss a trip to 'Ohana when you do your ADRs:)

Thanks KarenG and Stan for your helpful replies - we were only thinking of the keys for the lovely beaches - and as you said there are others as nice closer. We'll look into that- also a mini cruise - good idea! Thanks

Just about to book disney tickets for a trip in April.

Ticket prices have gone up and having now got down to 2 companies to book through, wondered if anyone has booked with either and what they are like to deal with - don't want to get done cos tickets are £650 for 2 adults and 2 kids:

Bargain Attractions ande US Rent a car.

Any recommendations as to which one to use?

    Thanks

2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family.
It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,000

Have you tried www.americanattractions.co.uk I have just bought tickets from them. I paid £623.00 for four adult 7 day Premium tickets. No cc charges and fast delivery.

Bargain attractions and USrentacar are the same firm. I would certainly try to get Attractionticketsdirect .com to pricematch Bargain attractions. ATD very good aftersales usually some little bits in the parcel the tickets come with.
They matched our Seaworld tickets which were £8 cheaper elsewhere.
    Good luck.

Hmmmm reading the site [USrentacar] again they are stating the tickets are for 2007!! Really wants you to ring them. Hope its not just a ploy to sell you more expensive tickets.

    Hi everyone,

I've been looking to book a holiday for 2 adults and 2 kids aged 7 and 5 end of July beginning of August for 2 weeks and usually go to Majorca or Spain from Birmingham, just priced it up and it's coming out £2500-£3000, so on the off chance and being stupid i thought i'd check the Florida prices and was shocked at how close the prices are. This is before reading this forum and trying to get to know the best places and attractions! To be honest i have no idea where to fly to(Orlando has so many airports) and where to stay or really whats on offer.........so i was wondering if some kind 'wise' soul would have any idea on what i need to know. Book it all together, separate, get attraction tickets before we go etc etc???

Any advice, websites and the best places to stay and visit would be great. Any other info needed then let me know!

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Scouse

Just to answer one question quickly:

There are only two airports in Orlando that you'd really use.

One is Sanford (SFB) and is used in the main by charter companies so that would be your First Choice, ThompsonFly, TravelCity Direct etc.

The other is Orlando "McCoy" International (MCO) which handles far more flights; from the UK only scheduled carriers go here: BA/Virgin. You can also fly to MCO from various places in the UK by going indirect, ie changing at a different point of entry in the US.

I prefer to go scheduled because I don't like being restricted by the dates the charter flights dictate to me but this doesn't other a lot of people :)
