We booked (just yesterday)from Edinburgh to Newark, Newark to MCO with netflights.com, flying with Continental, going out December, coming back January...cost just under £1800, but lots cheaper than BA or Virgin. It's a price we are happy to pay.
The Continental official site quoted £1500 for 2 adults one child, but then had to call to be told the price wasn't available (declined £2900 price for three of us!!).
Delta airlines is worth a try too.
Virgin flies direct from Manchester, but will be costlier. Apaarently flying on a Sunday with Virgin drops the rates, so maybe try that one for your dates?Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Hi All,
Have been reading this thread and been getting loads of fab tips for our first disney trip. My 3 year old is soooo excited, and well of course so am I!
Sorry for the long post... but want to give as much info to get the right advice.
We are struggling a bit to find decent flights as we are travelling at Christmas.... I know it's peak season etc etc but would love some advice.
We are meeting all my hubbys family there (they are all flying in from Canada) and we have got the villa already booked through dad in law. The villa is booked from 13th Dec - 17th Jan as hubbys parents will be there for 5 weeks. We are pretty flexible with dates between that period but defo want to be there between the 18th and the 3rd Jan as the whole family will be there then. We would like to stay for 3 weeks, but can do a few more or less if needed.
Pref airport is Manchester, but will consider other options if it saves us enough ££s and we are fine to go into Orlando or Tampa. 2 adults 1 child 1 inf. Best thing I can see is MAN-MCO on US airways via PHL for about £500 per adult. totalling £1800ish for all of us. What do you think? Will I be able to get better than this? Are there any suggestions for cheaper alternatives? Are there any charter flights flying into orlando or tampa around Christmas? Are there any options of more direct flights for similar prices?
Thank you in advance for any help and advice

no help needed now....just booked with US direct for £1162 all incl (13th dec - 5th jan) after a few hours of searching

Can anyone recommend any good deals? Originally we were looking at August, but prices seem to have shot up in last couple of weeks(Expedia). So now we are looking at May. Its for two adults, and three kids(10,8 and 3). We would like to stay in a hotel,(we have stayed in Comfort Suite Maingate East, would love to stay there again) and we have a flexible budget of about £3500(not including park tickets).
TIA

For the second week we were planning on going to WDW is is their Gay Days week. Where the park is expecting up to 30,000 gay and lesbians and their families. From 2 - 8 June. Has anyone been there at this time?0 -

No, friend of mine has.
You'll be glad to note there was very little sodomising and tuppence-licking in the main parade, and the sale of poppers was restricted to Epcot.
Does it make a difference, really?Comping wins this month: 2 x business class flights anywhere we like | Horse vitamins (!) | New kettle | Motorcycling prints | Signed LPs | Thanks to all!0 -

from what i have heard about gaydays in disneyworld, you probably wont notice its going on, i think its only a couple of days at the magic kingdom, so you can avoid that park if you wish. its not a cess pit of sin though if thats what you thinking, just a time when gay and lesbians can go and not feel they are the minority, they can hold hands and feel comfortable doing so, which unfortunatley even in 2009 can cause anger amongst the small minded people in this world. i can marry my partner but i cant hold his hand!, any way thats a whole new thread, in a whole new world! :rotfl: youll probably have the best and safest time when your there in gaydays time, and you wait till tinkerbell turns up and sprinkles the place with fairy dust!0 -
im a gayman and even i was shocked by that reply!

Gosh I must be getting naive in my old age, I just assumed 33Missy33 was worried about how busy it would be with an extra 30k people in WDW. It never occurred to me that there might be another reason for askingMoving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0 -
I'm going to Florida in 14 weeks. The question I have is should I get the tickets just now, or wait until nearer the time. Do the prices change or will they stay the same for the summer.
I was going to get them from Attraction Tickets or Virgin - any other ideas?
Many thanksWaddle you do eh?0 -

Thanks for your reply, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I was just asking if anyone had been there at that time. It says in my guidebook to expect around 135,000 extra people, I think Universal cover it too, so I was asking what actual difference to the numbers it made.
Please dont anyone try and 'twist' the question that I have asked, it was just a bit of information that I was asking for.

My DH is very angry with this year's version of Birnbaum (the official guide) as the update has been very shoddy and it has failed to mention a ton of changes (eg the closure of Pleasure Island for one). There can be no excuse for the official guide to miss that one. We've always preferred Sehlinger, but this year it is the absolute clear winner in the pack.
Our second choice would be Brits Guide which is also very good.
I picked up the non official guide for disney and the brits guide (for everything else), based on this.
Only one day in and these books are already paying dividends! Should save me time and money
ThanksRemember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
