Having been a couple of times for Christmas I have to disagree with Dazzer and Lesley. The MK is packed but the atmosphere is great. Worth the admission money alone!!0

I have drawn up a spreadsheet detailing what we will do when :nerd:
I have factored in when the Magic Hours are on the parks so that we don't go on those days. We are doing Water Parks on the weekends as I figure these will be less busy than the Main Parks. There is a rocket launch at NASA (not shuttle) whilst we are out there - although they haven't replied to me email for more details :grr:
We are going to do Busch Gardens for a day and then stay over in a Motel at Clearwater Beach (thanks for the tip) and then do an afternoon in the Dali museum. And we are going to look at a day out in Winter Park including boat ride (We like boats rides, having done London, Cambridge, Paris and Berlin)
We have a nationwide bank account and I am going to apply for one of the recommended credit cards in February
I have ordered the Unofficial Disney Guide and the Brits Guide to Orlando
Thanks for all the useful tips (As you can see, I like to plan my holidays like a military campaign - but there will be lots of sunbathing, swimming and beer whilst I am there)I am now debt free! Whoop whoop! :money::beer:0 -

After reading above post I got a bit panicky. We will be making our first trip to Florida at the end of May, I dont have a clue about what is good what is not, when to go to parks when to stay away. What kind of car to get etc etc etc. Would love someone to give me some real basic advice on what to do/not to do there are 2 adults 2 children age 11 & 6. Should I start planning now and how??????????????0 -
Sitcom. One evening sit down and write out an itinerary. A. this will surprise you ,how much to do how little time you have. B. then discuss it with your partner, they will want to add more! C. Dont forget rest days around the pool and shopping in the evening, and a visit to Downtown Disney. D. screw it all up and start again! Sorry I am not being facetious, we have been once or twice a year for over 20 years! still use an itinerary, still fail to stick to it---but at least it tells us what we have missed.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

Sitcom - don't stress too much, you still have plenty of time to plan, and even if you don't, you will still have loads of fun.
As has been mentioned above, get an idea of what you want to do and draw up a basic plan. Don't forget driving and rest days - you wouldn't drive 60 miles to spend a day in London, drive back and do it all again the next day, so don't do it in Florida.
I haven't tried the guides before, but am getting them this time as they get good recommendations.
IMO - If you are going for 2 weeks, pick the FIVE things you really want to do, plan those, and then fit the rest in if you can (5 parks + rest days = 10 days, a day at either end for packing and travel and you are virtually done). But don't think of a rest day as a rest day - it might just mean an afternoon in a mall, or going on an airboat ride, but you want to be fresh to enjoy a full day at the parks - if that is your thing, especially with kids - you don't want to be dragging overtired kids around. (I regret being too tired to see the fireworks at Epcot)0 -
If you can get the helicopter ride over disney. Its expensive but worth it!0
