thanks for these. Was this the Len Testa Unofficial Guide? I am surprised you did not like it as I think its a very helpful book. DId you try any of the touring plans in it? You may have had better luck with the crowds following one of those plans or the crowd calander.
There is no doubt Christmas is a busy time but with some effort and planning it can be OK.
Overall though I am gla d you had a great time and those liee EEpc are going to take over the wrold. They are gerat.
Cheers

The travel agent said as the dates arent out yet she cant give a def price but looking at £4000 for the 14 days including passes to disney only, staying in pop concert hotel thing!
My question is by shopping around which i have never done before how much would i be likely to save and how difficult is it to do....
any help would be most appricated0 -

There are many villa estates really close to Disney:-
Windsor Hills
Lindfields
Sunset Lakes
Indian Ridge
Emerald Island
to name a few.
I found a fantastic map with the actual location of each of the communities here...

Afraid I only have a four bed, but there are lots of friendly villa owners at www.thedibb.co.uk that would be able to help you with a 6 bed close to Disney.
Have a lovely holiday!0 -
Thanks for the prompt response, I really appreciate the advice.
I have been sent quite a few villas in the resorts/areas I mentioned but the quality does vary. Some of them have quite a dated decor.
Hopefully when you return in Feb.
A lakeview will be nice but is not at all essential, we are more concerned about the proximity to the parks etc, the quality of the villa we get and trying to stick to budget.
BTW is the owner of the villa you used an English company or just an individual? We need a 6 bed villa.
Again, many thanks.
There are some very nice 6 bedders on Emerald Island which have some great interiors. Check out last Minute Villas or do a search for the Simbas Pride villa.
Lake fronts (or rears) are nice one for the view but also to help with the noise. Not having someone with a pool and a 4/5/6 bed house backing on to you with kids in the pool etc when you want a quiet afternoon is nice.
Also the map mentioned above http://www.orlandovillas.com/Map.aspx is very good. Map sure you zoon in and then you can see the best located villas. I would say that its those around the Emerald Is area so Sunset Lakes etc. The 429 the road that heads north is a new road and a toll road. Its a Dollar to the Disney turn off and not long on it but it cuts out the dreaded 192 and all its traffic lights so well worth it.Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

also as for the dated interniors - we were shocked at the styles when we were furnishing our place. Now there is an Ikea in Orlando there is no excuse but at the time is was flora prints and palm trees everywhere!!
And for some reason the Americans do not put handles on kitchen cupboards, that one always baffles me LOLSelf confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

Make sure you shop around, we (2A 2C) are paying over £1000 less than this for late August this year, play the travel agents against each other to get the lowest price.

ihave an enquiry hope i am in the right place there is a group of us wanting to go to florida, orlando in 2011 i know long way off but got to be well planned, it is for myfriends honey moon so we would like 2 villas next to each other or across the road (very close) also we do not drive, so would like to be as close to the disney end as possible as we feel thats where we will be mostly, does anyone know what kind of price we would eb looking at for flights, villas, etc its 3 families 4a 2c, and 2a 2c and 1 infant so as long as there is min of 3 bedrooms in each that would be fine, we want to go in the uk summer holidays prob beginning of august for 2 weeks with pool oh dear i hope i haventg one on too much any grreatly appreciated x x
Far too early to get any firm prices - my friends are regular visitors to me in Florida and I'll ask himfor his rental details - I think he pays £500.00 pw for a 5 be villa with game room (pool/air hockey/table tennis etc) pool and hot tub.
Let me know if you need anything else also look at my other thread about insurance - and let each family arrange their own insurance - if any of your party break the rules ALL of you will not be covered.

We were originally booked to go on holiday from 15th-27th January to Orlando, which we then paid to extend to 31st.
Then, we've had a family bereavement, and we're having to push back the holiday (again) so it is now 22nd January-7th February.
We had two bookings at the Metropolitan Express - 15th-27th was booked with Hotelopia, and the last few days was booked with Expedia.
I rang Hotelopia and they have said they can't amend the booking as there is no availability at the Metropolitan Express. Argh. I am yet to ring Expedia to see about changing that.
As it stands then, we've got bookings from 15th - 31st - 15-27 with Hotelopia, 27-31 with Expedia.
Of those, we only need 22-31, and need to find a way to book the Metropolitan for the 31, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and checkout on 7th. Do you think it'll be cheaper just to cancel every booking we have and start over, as it were?
So confused!
Also, we need to move the dates of our flexitickets - is this possible - any help? We have 14 day tickets and we'll need to move them into the new timeslot! Eeep.I am now debt free! Whoop whoop! :money::beer:0 -

so sorry just saw your post quoted by Craig! Sorry I didn't respond earlier!
We didn't really want to be overlooked or too close to other properties so I think that was one reason for the lakeview plus it will be great for realxing after the parks etc etc!!
The owner is an individual and I think I found the property on VRBO there are so many properties on there which is why it's good to know the area you want to stay (roughly!) Ours is 4 beds but there are plenty of bigger ones.
Good luck and apologies for late reply!:o0
