well who would go to florida, disney at christmas and not expect it to be packed! ive read every year that they close the turnstiles early over the holidays at its so busy.id love to do disney at christmas but theres no way i ever would!

We flew out on the 21stDec(shouldhave been the 20th but thats a whole another story lol) the parks were heaving ,we have been to Orlando 7 times now ,4 of which have been a few days after Christmas day ,every year has been busier then the last I thought this time visiting the parks was unpleasant Iwould never advise anyone to go for Christmas
  • Starting to get excited now - we fly on 27 March :D

I have drawn up a spreadsheet detailing what we will do when :nerd:

I have factored in when the Magic Hours are on the parks so that we don't go on those days. We are doing Water Parks on the weekends as I figure these will be less busy than the Main Parks. There is a rocket launch at NASA (not shuttle) whilst we are out there - although they haven't replied to me email for more details :grr:

We are going to do Busch Gardens for a day and then stay over in a Motel at Clearwater Beach (thanks for the tip) and then do an afternoon in the Dali museum. And we are going to look at a day out in Winter Park including boat ride (We like boats rides, having done London, Cambridge, Paris and Berlin)

We have a nationwide bank account and I am going to apply for one of the recommended credit cards in February

I have ordered the Unofficial Disney Guide and the Brits Guide to Orlando

Thanks for all the useful tips (As you can see, I like to plan my holidays like a military campaign - but there will be lots of sunbathing, swimming and beer whilst I am there)

Having been a couple of times for Christmas I have to disagree with Dazzer and Lesley. The MK is packed but the atmosphere is great. Worth the admission money alone!!
Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS
  • Re park tickets, does anyone know if there's anywhere online I can check the validity of some tickets. We have some options left on ours (for waterparks etc), and when we last went we paid for them to be indefinate, just not sure how many we have left on each ticket.
Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

    Just want to be...Happy

I am excited too, as I fly the day after you :D

You['ve done absolutely the right thing with the Extra Magic Hours :) though the guidebooks always used to advise staying away from the waterparks at the weekends as this is when the locals go as well as the tourists. Check your Brit's Guide or Unofficial Guide to see if that's still the case as my versions are a year or two outof date.

    Enjoy!

Unfortunately, the only place that you can check this is at WDW itself. Any of the Guest Service locations will be able to help you.

    It's a tad annoying.

Do you know anyone going soon who could take them over and check them for you? We've done this in the past for people. I'm not offering, as obviously you don't knw me from Adam ;) but I thought it was worth mentioning in case someone you know could do it for you.

Cheers for that, will do. Unfortunately as we are going Friday to Friday over 2 weeks (still not sure why) It means we have 2 weekends so I think we will have to do something on one day for each.

OK, I gave you some duff info earlier - sorry about that! I have just seen something that says that Saturdays are the best day to visit a waterpark nowadays. Does that help?

There are two really good Discount outlet malls that I am partial to - one at the top end of International Drive (used to be called Belz but has been refurbed and is now called Prime). The other good one is at the Premium Outlets which is at the other end of the main bit of I Drive.

There's also one at the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores but personally I have found it's full of tat when I've been.

    There are Gaps everywhere ;)
