When I was at pop century a couple of months ago I did see more rooms built near to it, maybe they are adding on to it. The only problem of building more onto it is the eating area is not big enough other than that I would go back again (been twice already to this hotel)0

Thanks Viv. Have a nice time WYG. I can't understand why they would build more when The Lgendary Years is unfinished. I do know what you mean about being stuck in the corner, this is what we liked about staying at the Radisson on Celebration, the bus used to take 10 mins tops from the hotel as we were the first/last stop, always had a seat and it ran on time. We paid $12 for a weekly ticket which would take you all over Orlando on the Lynx bus (you can download maps before you go too) and the kids were free! Plus it did not take half an hour to walk to the room like it did in ASM. We was supposed to stay at ASM for 2 weeks after a week we were begging to be 'released' and spent 4 days in I. Drive instead.0

I mentioned a few posts back about the Pop Century going and its kind put the cat amongst the pigeons.
Here is the low down.
Just before Christmas Disney filed permits to build out some of the rooms at Pop Century as "test" rooms for a new resort to be know as the Disney Animation Inns and Suites. The concept it to offer an alternative to the Nick Resort.
If successful all of Pop will change over to this.
I have swap emails with an Executive VP at Disney at this all seems above board.

The reason this is so believable is that the touring plans web site is in fact the website for the Unofficial Guide etc. Len Testa is very rarely wrong.
A suites hotel would be excellent for Disney, I just do not hope the rebrand it as a moderate.
Cheers

The permit is here http://or.occompt.com/recorder/eagleweb/viewDoc.jsp?node=DOC338S11052
remember this is just a test room. They build this, test it and people say yeah or nah. If Nah then it does not get built if yeah then its probably good bye Pop Century.Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

Thanks Craig. Yes, you are right, suites would be an excellent idea, let's hope that this is what happens and that they do not rebrand. Are they going to do anything with The Legendary Years which is still unfinished, it would make sense wouldn't it?0

Can we sign up to 'test run' the room??0

Hi Craig,
Could you please tell me if these resorts in Kissimee are genuinely close to Disney - Sunset Lakes, Emerald Islands, Legacy Park, Seasons resort.
I took your advice and found flights to Tampa for £1300 for 2 adults and 2 children on BA as opposed to £1800 for Orlando but I have also been looking at packages as we would rather pay a deposit now and then put money aside monthly to pay the balance off 10 weeks before whereas we need need to stump up for the tickets upfront and quite possibly the villa too.
If there is any one on this forum who has a 6 bedroom villa to rent in the Kissimee area please let me know.
Cheers.0 -
Hi Jadsima
We're off to a villa in Sunset Lakes and we puposely chose it there as it is v close to animal kingdom and a good location, we stayed near there last time we went. Also for some reason we decided we wanted a villa with a lakeview and we found the perfect one at sunset lakes happy to Pm the details to you (english owner not used them before but go on Feb 3rd so can tell you more then!!)
Emerals Islands is a similar location too so I would be happy to stay there also.
I'm not an expert like Craig and I don't know legacy park but I'm sure he'll be on soon to give his fab advice.
Good luck xxx0 -
Thanks for the prompt response, I really appreciate the advice.
I have been sent quite a few villas in the resorts/areas I mentioned but the quality does vary. Some of them have quite a dated decor.
Hopefully when you return in Feb.
A lakeview will be nice but is not at all essential, we are more concerned about the proximity to the parks etc, the quality of the villa we get and trying to stick to budget.
BTW is the owner of the villa you used an English company or just an individual? We need a 6 bed villa.
Again, many thanks.0 -

Would you mind posting here too? I'd love to know myself as I prefer Pop to the All Stars ...such a shame though I guess Pop is the obvious choice to convert if the occupancy rates there are lower than the All Stars:(
We spent a night in a Family Suite at Music and although it was nice to have the extra room, I'm not sure I'd pay that much extra for it.0
