Hi everyone!
Hope you don't mind me asking but I have just booke flights to Orlando for February 2009. I have 7 nights at the end on the gulf coast (villa booked!) and 10 nights at the beginning in Orlando.
We want to do the usual mixture of theme parks/shopping etc etc but I wondered if anyone had any recommendations for villas?? I know that might be difficult but there are loads online and I'm not sure of the 'best' or 'worse' areas to stay.
Obviously we will have a car, we would like a pool and we need a minimum of 3 bedrooms otherwise not too fussy!
Thanks for any info/help

Hi
The first to remember is ALL villa sites lie about the distance from Disney! They use Disney property as "At Disney" which of course it is but then again its not because you still have a long way to go for the parks etc.
By far the best place in my mind is emerald Island. This is a great sub division and really is near to Disney. However its new and the houses are expensive.
Another place I like it near to where we live which is a place called Orange Tree. Its about a 15 min drive to the gates of the Animal Kingdom park and is also near to shops and restaurants, being near the infamous 192.
The 192 is the road that runs west to east through Orlando Disney area. At the west end is another road called the 27 which runs north to south. A lot of rental homes are along the 27 so being near teh 27 and 192 intersection is a good place. The towns runs south up north and called Kissimmee, Davenport, Clermont. Davenport is pure rental land, Clermont in my mind is a little better and communities such as Weston Hiolls, Glenbrook and Orange Tree are slightly older (well Orange tree is still building so I can not class that as old as its huge).
Also look for what the community offers. Orange tree has tennis courts and the like.
There are lots of websites out there for villas. Check out this owners site called https://www.top-forums.com. This is a plce where vvilla owners talk about what they have and the problems they face etc. It also has a great advertsising section.

Hi Furrypig!!
After doing the Orlando Kissimmee area for many years, tend to agree with Disney cjd. To ask about villas is like asking how long is a piece of string. The choice is just about endless, but for a slightly different slant on it all We like the Winterhaven area, its rural America, the people are much nicer and you stay away from the dreaded 192.
Distance wise from the parks its further away than the 192, but its usually empty roads and the distance is very quickly covered and I think there are only two sets off traffic lights from the parks whereas the 192 has traffic lights about every 400 yds.[sorry I'm old and only know real measurements].Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -

Hi,
Am thinking of booking flights to Orlando from manchester next year. The only direct flights I've found so far are with Virgin - does anyone know if anyone else flies direct? Am i likely to get a considerably better deal if I fly from London instead?0 -

Travelcity/XL fly into Sanford rather than Orlando International from Manchester. It's a bit further from the parks, but a helluva lot easier and quicker to get through immigration and customs.0 -
After a bit of advice - i am hoping to book a holiday to stay at Disney (prob All Star Movies or Pop Century) in December 2009.
At the moment, the price is coming up at about £955 per person.
My query is, if i wait to book (was going to book in August, but would rather wait until December as im going to be paying for some of it with Tesco deals) what are the chances of 1. The price going up or 2. The holidays being sold out?
Hope someone can help!!!0 -

Very difficult to answer that one. Who knows. What I can say is that December is a VERY busty time for all the Disney hotels as many people spend the holidays in Florida weather etc.
However here is an idea..... Why not do it all seperate like?
You can book flgiths with anyone, use kayak.co.uk or direct with an airline. That will give you a price. You can get a car (iof you want one) from usrentacar or yescarhire.com and the hotels. you can book online or I find you get a better deal by calling htem. Also this way you only need to pay for the flight now, The hotel you would not pay fopr until you got there and checked out.
If thats no good for you then I would alway suggest that you book now.Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!

I was going to go with Virgin from Manchester but have read that their standards are slipping and their fleet is looking a bit dated. Anyone flown with them recently from Manchester? I'm going to book with Thomas Cook. Have also been offered a good deal for Villas from Dial-a-flight - anyone else used them for Villas?0 -
Hi All
We are over for a month in August and wanted to take the kids (6 and 4) to Universal and Islands of Adventure for a couple of days.
Anyone suggest the best place for tickets? At the gate, on line? Anything we should look for like fastpass tickets or something?
I have a Florida ID if we can use that in some way? (although its limited to my B2 visa)
Thanks in advance.Self confessed Florida expertwith over 320 trips there!
