I think you will find you have little choice about upgrading your insurance. There is a lot that car rental companies insist on now.
You do not say if the car comes with the flight/holiday. This is quite often how these companies make up there profit. Work out if the extras that your holiday company want against hiring a separate car through some one like USrentacar. May work out considerably cheaper.

Thanks for replying to my post.

I am going with First Choice and the car does come included in the holiday price, however have looked at USrentacar and their inclusive insurance deal for 2 weeks commencing 16.5.09 is 178.00 and their gold rate - which includes petrol, is 192.00. First choice car rental insurance premium rates are 22.00 per day for gold and 20.00 for fully inclusive, which works out at over 300 quid.

Would anyone know whether the holiday company insist on you using the car you have with your holiday???

Also I have been looking at getting some dollars now whilst the rate is so favourable, a friend mentioned that you can book dollars to be sent to you next year at an even better rate, would anyone have any details on this??

Many thanks, any other tips or advice for a complete florida novice would be really appreciated.

Regarding the car hire question, its my understanding that you don't have to take their car.

You can spend your time alone re digesting past regrets,
Or you can come to terms and realize you're the only one who can forgive yourself.
Makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

if you have a passport that is valid then there are no issues they were machine readable as far back as 1998. My wifes has just expired and she had no issues getting in over the last 10 year and we were only there late last year.

you will need a visa though at the moment you just complete the visa waver form on the plane, there is another thread that says you need to do this on line from Jan 09 though

Hi I'm looking to book a holiday for me +1 to Orlando (Int Dr) from 21st June or later for two weeks, Dial A Flight have quoted at the cheapest around £470pp from the 22nd at Heathrow (with stops in Detroit). Is there anyway I can get this down even more?
I know this is cheap but just out of curiousity as some of you mentioned late bargain deals happening in June, anybody got any info please? I'm a student too if that might help.

Also is it true the US immigration are now fingerprinting everybody entering the country?

I am sure you can get cheaper flights at this time but they would probably be charter. Travelcity/first choice etc.
They take a finger print scan upon entry into the States now, if I remember correctly, not been for such a long time April 2008 was my last visit!!!, just an index finger . Was it on both hands, cannot remember.

Lightning, have you tried Broadway Travel? By far the cheapest for me.

Going for 2 weeks next Thursday and staying in Travelodge on I-Drive. Cost me £432 per person. No car hire needed as the hotel has free shuttles etc.

oh my god you are so right they quoted me 22/08/09-05/09/09 for 2 kids and 2 adults prob 3 adults as my son will be 16 £2398.00 which i thought was really good is it?

Hi, we are looking to book for last week April (23rd dep) first week May 2009. Have looked at Virgin flydrives (£3295), TCD (£3224), Kenwood Travel (£3724), Flrorida 4 less (£3430). Or flight only Kayak (£2692 flights + £408 8 str with satnav/platinum pack = £3100 *flts with Virgin).

Virgin seems the best flights with the extra free baggage allowance (2 * 23kg), especially after being hammered for excess from My Travel when we went to Vegas:mad: Although for legroom Thomas cook/Thomson flights are 33" seat pitch if I`m not mistaken.

6 of us in 3 bed villa or 3 bed apartment/hotel apartment. Or possibly 3 extra coming which means 4/5 bed villa. Waiting on 3 extra for decision so hard to book yet.
Prices are around £3k for the 6 of us for flydrive. Doing sep flights are coming out at around the same with car hire seperate but included.

Villa location is the hard one. Have been rec`d a few off 192 ( Emerald Isl, Formosa Gardens, Windsor Palms, Rolling Hills, Indian Creek, windsor Hills) as they are close to Disney and there are some eateries on 192 as you turn off that are within walking distance depending on exactly which community you go for, which would be nice.

Wifey found a Virgin Holiday package at Lake Buena Vista Village Resort in a 2 bed apt for £3712.

There is so much choice your head spins tho and you just keep looking and looking:confused:

So my dilemma is do I book now at best price or wait for lower ? fares etc Also any advice on villa locations where there are ameneties within walking distance???

Just posted war and peace on here but it dissapeared for some reason!

Condensed version: 6 to florida thurs april 23 2009. best so far with 8 seater & ins.

    virgin flydrive £3195
    TCD £3224
Florida 4 less £3430 (TC flights so with extra? baggage & booked seats)
    Kenwood Travel £3724

    Then for flight only

Skydeals £2580 (not sure of carrier)
Travel s/market (TC flight) £397 on Tuesday 21st tho. presume it is + booked seats and extra luggage allowance (upto their previous standard of 20kg ea)
    Kayak £449 (£2692)with Virgin.

car hire seperate = £408 for 8 str (for luggage space) with platinum cover and satnav.

Not too much difference then. Question is are they gunna drop or just go steadily up??

Also looking at villas. Want somewhere not too far from parks but also with some eateries/shops within walking distance.

Been rec`d Formosa Gardens, Emerald Island, Windsor Palms/Hills, Indian creek and rolling hills. All are similar location off 192. There are apparently some eateries etc on junction of 192 and where you turn off to the various communities?
Any other recs would be appreciated and when best time to book villas/any techniques for getting a deal etc.

As there are 6 of us going even a few quid pp helps. There vmay be another 3 coming so we would then deffo want a villa (probs 5 bed) but would be sharing costs.
As it stands tho we could well just book hotel. Seen one at Lake Buena Vista where yoiu get an apartment, 2 bed, for £3712. dont want hotel rooms as we have kids so would have to split between rooms.

Any tips/advice appreciated. Ideas for tickets/ how to get most from trip etc.

    cheers
