I have a small EF which is where I keep mine. It is on my spreadsheet as a 13th month and I keep a count of what I spend there, rather than following the "Second purse" system that is linked-to in post one.
As to what I use it for, it is everything in my store cupboard and toiletries that I buy in quantities greater than a single month - so if I buy five litres of olive oil (which I decant into a bottle with a pourer so I don't over-use) - that is my stores. Similarly when my favourite shower gloop is on offer at £1 a go, I make sure I have six in stock so I never pay full price. - It's why I changed to an annual budget really.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £2135.07/£3000 or 71.17% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

A rather modest £45 spent at the market this weekend, on meat, cheese, fruit & veg and we can claim quite a few NSDs this week. Next week will be - somewhat less frugal! But is budgeted for.Angie - GC Sept 25: £226.44/£450: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Belated birthday wishes MadamMim _party_ I hope you had a great time.Graciefields wrote: »however, I stupidly didn't put chicken thighs and pork mince in the freezer from last Friday and they are well past their use by date. I had even menu planned for the first time. Really disappointed with myself. The pork mince actually looks and smells ok but am not risking it with chicken thighs. They are both in the bin.
How annoying for you - I bet you won't do that again!
Quite a few "bitty" spends this week and only 3 NSDs but all's well as I only spent a total of £23.14 and that included £10's worth of treats for Xmas, so I'm happy with that.:)
Meal plan done for the coming week and only fresh milk will be needed. I have stuff in stock to make mince pies, sausage rolls, stuffing, cheesecake etc so my Xmas shopping list will be quite small on Friday. AND I might even have some cash left over at the end of the month too. :jBe kind to others and to yourself too.0 -
Monthly budget will aim for £300 £151.90/£300To include all food, toiletries, cleaning stuff, cat food and cat litter, non alcoholic drinks.NSD will aim for at least 15 11/15
Such a shame about the chicken and pork Gracie. I hate it when that happens.
Im doing well so far this month, mainly because im trying to cook meals for the family based on what we have in, and avoiding small top up shops. Ive also been!!managing to bake loads of bread which costs hardly anything compared to shop bought. Ive eaten out a few times but am not going to include this in my g c budget and we generally dont get takeaways.
Aim to do the BIG xmas shop on Thursday or friday, then I can relax.....phew! But will definitely be popping in to Aldi for a leisurely stroll on xmas eve morning as we noticed last year thats when they get their yellow sticker gun out.

Still didn’t go out! So lazy and couldn’t be bothered. I finally started working on wedding stuff again in the evening after lighting a fire under myself. After my dentist appointment tomorrow I'll hit the stores and recalibrate. In the meantime I’m glad to rack up NSDs.

I shall do a "stuff that can keep" shop on Friday. Then veg on the 23rd/24th.Because it's fun to have money!

Hi everyone, lovely to see how many NSDs are happening! Very easy to spend a little here and there, especially in December, so well done all of you!
I'm feeling happy as I'm back in a bit more control this week, both for weight loss and GC-wise! I planned and prepped all my food yesterday until Thursday so I'm sorted!
Only 2 breakfasts pictured ready to transport as I ran out of containers but I do have the other two ready to put together!
Herby pasta salad for lunches and a veggie and chickpea curry with brown rice for tea!
I always feel so much better when I am prepared and in control!
I think I am getting paid on Thursday (hoping so!!) so my "January" will start then and I aim to plan and prep properly each week as it worked really well when I was doing it before. Plus, there's tons of veg in there, it's Slimming World friendly, and I can do it on £30-£35 a week depending on what I already have in, so it's better than I'm doing currently! Which is not even keeping track properly as I'm so out of control!
Already thinking about how I can do things differently next year, realisitic goals!

Wow that looks so organised elsiepac! I’m a little envious
I went to see friends at the weekend and ended up snacking on motorway food on the way back. Didn’t get a receipt either so have estimated the damage and will check bank account in a few days.
Have just realised I need to get a move on and decide what to have for Christmas dinner as I’ll be prepping it in a week... Won’t be much at this rate :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
