I found the Dutch Prime Minsters comments interesting. At least shows respect. Even if views differ.
But what is there to respect about a one trick pony who can’t even get that trick right? As much as I hated thatcher you had to respect her, May is like a racehorse with the blinkers on.0 -

They put them on to, hopefully, increase the horses chance of winning'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
So May is still hanging on....I read a good article in the evening standard the other day which basically said that if May had a shred of decency and was honerable she would have resigned by now, in fact she would have resigned after that fiasco of an election where she had listened to two people who had as much knowledge of politics as your average university student.
She is not steely or stubborn she is just stupid and there is nothing to admire about that. Looks like her latest round of begging the EU will end the same way as Cameron’s, ie a big fat F off from them.
The sooner her pathetic deal is voted down the better.
That she has been one of the worst PMs we have ever had is not something I would deny. But she has led her party in difficult times when it is dominated by a serious infighting. The ERG is a lunatic fringe of those that have more in common with UKIP than the average voter.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

Be interesting to know how you would have approached the task differently.
Often said that people that criticise are unhappy about something in their own lives.0 -

I cannot say how he would have approached things differently, but from the moment we had a minority government May should have sought to build consensus across parties that represented the Remainers as well as the Leavers and at least tried to unite a divided nation behind a consensus position.
A cross party commission (or whatever ) might not have all agreed but outside of posturing on the right and the party politics on the left a majority consensus based on something like EFTA might have emerged. But May's approach has always been my way or the highway.
Failing to build consensus even in her own party, and failing to unite a divided nation has been her legacy whenever she leaves office.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Then one returns to the cherry picking comments of old. Doesn't matter what people want or think. If the option isn't on the table you cannot expect the negotiating team to agree a compromise with the EU. The EU is political organisation. Not a trade organisation. Principles come first.
Likewise appears Westminster to be the same. Full of people with fluffy ideas. The EU polticians are making ours appear totally inept.0 -

How about listening to people in your own party and not the few inept advisors that you surround yourself with. Or actually delivering a deal that the people who won the referendum actually want and not some fuzzy sit on the fence deal that pleases no one.
There are many other options, Canada+, EFTA based etc. Did she consider any of those? No she just stuck her head down and tried to push through her own stupid ideas.
And please, curb the amateur psychology.0 -

Had these ideas been discussed in a cross party group, the practicality of the ideas could have been explored in private and the problems emerging from the negotiations could have been discussed. I agree there would have still been those wanting to cherry pick but I do not accept that a cross party consensus could not have emerged.
I was not suggesting this approach would be useful for agreeing a customised solution based on cherry picking. Rather that the basic question of whether we wanted No-Deal, EFTA, Customs Union etc. That is she should have tried to get cross party support on what Leave meant. Instead we have given them nebulous ideas that were impossible for the EU to address.
For example moving to EFTA as a start to Brexit would probably have gained a lot of support, even if at some point in the future we moved to an even more detached solution.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment.
