As I said I don't have a legit reason I just forgot to pay the meter when I parked.

That may well be but human error does not mean that you can be scammed.  Believe me, they are trying to scam you and, if this gets to court, a judge may throw out their claim because of it.

Thank you very much for this info. As I said I don't have a legit reason I just forgot to pay the meter when I parked. As I said I am pregnant and this is stressing me out, I would rather not have to physically attend court!
Almost certainly you won't. It's likely to be from the comfort of your house either by phone or video link.

I've scanned back through the thread - have you actually ever told us which parking firm is pursuing you?  That will help us give you a better idea as to whether this will go the whole way. Many of them just huff and puff, put you through the wringer, then run away last minute. Which one please?

In the past full year (2019) Napier issued almost 39,000 parking tickets, but appeared at a court hearing in just 47 cases - 0.12% of all tickets got to court that year. So that fact doesn't put Napier in the highly litigious PPC category, but they do sue in some cases. As such you can't take your eye off the ball and need to go through the necessary various stages to avoid a judgment in default. That said, it doesn't rule out the possibility of a discontinuation later in the process.

And email a SAR to the DPO at Napier , if not done already , AOS after the date KeithP gave you

Also start drafting your defence using the Coupon mad template from Oct 2020 , posting your adapted paragraphs below

It's not a summons but it is a live Court claim , which needs defending

Any court hearing will be by phone call or video link , unlikely to be face to face

I think I did request a SAR from Napier years ago but when I thought it has been squashed I must have got rid of everything and since had my email account hacked so had to get a new one!! I can re-request one though right?

In the announcements at the top of this forum , spend some time studying the relevant ones , basic stuff !!

    Use a laptop , not a phone

I would email a SAR to the DPO at Napier anyway , attaching a copy of the claim form as proof of I D under the GDPR law
