Hmmm. I was reading about this product the other day.

There are a group of people trying to take P&G to court over this product and it's claims. There's no actual 'medicine' in it, say the critics. So much so, that it is regulated as a medical "device" and is not regulated as a "medicine". Critics argue that users would be just as well off rinsing the nose with salt water. And when asked to explain what clinical trials were undertaken and to give their results P&G would not oblige.

So I looked at the ingredients:

    Aqua: water

Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (based on plant extracts): A gel that makes products more elastic

    Succinic Acid: Makes glucose ferment

    Disodium Succinate: Regulates acidity

    Phenethyl alcohol: Preservative

    Zinc

Polysorbate 80: Stops fermented products foaming

    Menthol, Camphor, Eucalyptol

    Sodium Saccharin: Artificial sweetener

And indeed it doesn't look very pharmaceutical. But I'm not a pharmacologist...Just sayin'......that there is a storm brewing over this product.

    Morning, thanks Determined

going to check all the plugs are switched off after reading that plugged in chargers cost 3p an hour - event when they aren't charging anything

    Have a good day all

    Nat

Hi Nat, a (branded) charger on its own uses almost no power. I measured a few, and the only ones that use 1w (the smallest my power meter went down to) are big laptop power supplies. Little usb charges didn't register. 1w is about 2p per week.

Stuff that sits on standby is totally different. An xbox1, which goes into standby instead of off when you switch it off can use nearer £1 per week. Concentrate your efforts on anything which has a light on it when its switched off, that's probably a better bet.

The amount (new) chargers can use while not attached to the appliance is limited by EU regulations to no more than 0.5 watts. But that's no reason not to unplug it. We are the small things thread after all!

I turn my radio alarm clock off at the wall during the day. It resets the time automatically when I put it back on.

Also turn off your microwave if it has a clock on it.

  • Just a quick hello and subscribe from me as I'm on my way to bed after 13 hours of work today, plus inventorying my tins cupboard and swallowing a large frog. I feel very accomplished but tired.
Sounds like it's been a bit of a day for everyone today - hope all is well, and love to everyone that needs it at the moment. Hope you're ok after your storage experience Ally.
P.S. If anyone knows a good way of using up 6 tins of peaches then please share - there's only so much fruit and yoghurt I can eat. :rotfl:

    Things for today:

    * [STRIKE]load of washing [/STRIKE]& hang up - [STRIKE]need to check weather and see if it's worth hanging out. Seems a damp sqwid at the moment....[/STRIKE]
    * take pup for walk after school run
    * need to speak to the school as not very happy. Madam was booked in for a extra curricular club last night but they said she wasn't on the list so sent her to the ASC. I'm not very happy & I'm not paying! she's a really good sensible kid so they should have called me when she said she was on the list
    * finish quilting quilt :D
    * cast on sock
    * finish flyladying - just need to do bathroom, polish madam's room, & wash floors d/s
    * check onepoll - think I managed to get £1 in surveys yesterday. £9 away from my last ever onepoll!
    * order some stickers for madam's album for christmas :D
    * 2nd dog walk later on this afternoon
    * walk to library and return some books and collect another. Will stop at the shop and pick up some milk
    * not waste my time online today - didn't do very good at this yesterday :(

    Right better get on.

  • Morning all :hello:

Hope everyone has a better Tuesday. Cat for peaches - make a sponge tray bake and then put them on top. Or put them in the bottom of a steamed pudding. If you put peaches in bbc g00dfood it'll give you a load of easy great ideas. Or take the labels of them and some other tins and play tin roulette :rotfl:

    My list for today:
    Check banking update sheet
Use stock from slow cooker to make a risotto. Love 3 meals from 1 chicken :D
    Lunch provided by a supplier
    DH taking leftovers
Dd taking nut free hm pesto :A
Look at present list tonight and make a list of my target presents for tomorrow
Update bullet journal with Christmas items

That'll do for now, have a good day everyone. Purps.

    • Investigate anti slip treatment for danger slope at back of house - found a potential product
    • New breadmaker to hopefully arrive today. - it has been sent to Surrey by accident
    • Heating off hopefully. Supposed to be nice today. - done

Interesting, thought it was worth a shot, as I have both grandchildren who always seem to be climbing all over me with snotty noses, and asthma and a blood condition which makes my immune system a bit compromised. I guess for that reason, the nurse thought it was worth a try at least! I'm not a pharmacologist either, but at first glance there isn't anything in there that worries me unduly.

It is a cabinet with fine mesh walls that keeps insects off food (not necessarily meat).
