Hmmm. I was reading about this product the other day.

There are a group of people trying to take P&G to court over this product and it's claims. There's no actual 'medicine' in it, say the critics. So much so, that it is regulated as a medical "device" and is not regulated as a "medicine". Critics argue that users would be just as well off rinsing the nose with salt water. And when asked to explain what clinical trials were undertaken and to give their results P&G would not oblige.

So I looked at the ingredients:

    Aqua: water

Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (based on plant extracts): A gel that makes products more elastic

    Succinic Acid: Makes glucose ferment

    Disodium Succinate: Regulates acidity

    Phenethyl alcohol: Preservative

    Zinc

Polysorbate 80: Stops fermented products foaming

    Menthol, Camphor, Eucalyptol

    Sodium Saccharin: Artificial sweetener

And indeed it doesn't look very pharmaceutical. But I'm not a pharmacologist...Just sayin'......that there is a storm brewing over this product.

If I feel like I am going to get a cold I take a double zinc dose - has always worked for me

Sounds like it's been a bit of a day for everyone today - hope all is well, and love to everyone that needs it at the moment. Hope you're ok after your storage experience Ally.

P.S. If anyone knows a good way of using up 6 tins of peaches then please share - there's only so much fruit and yoghurt I can eat. :rotfl:

    I'm ok, now. Thanks.

Peaches: Add them to plain fairy cake mixture or bake into a Victoria sponge. Add to curry.

    Hi November Networkers,

    Afternoon!:coffee: Day off. :) Not raining. :)

    Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Four:

    * Check online banking. Done.

    * Get some exercise. Drove to local Lochwinnoch RSPB reserve where I deposited DW. She gets a discount at the reserve, Got train one stop to Glengarnock with Boris, my folding bike. Cycled through Glengarnock and Kilbirnie back to Lochwinnoch. 'Credited' DW. :rotfl: Drove home. Lunch was homemade lettuce soup from the freezer. Then walk to the pool for a sauna. DW gets a discount but still hasn't been often enough to be in credit on the £5-a-year-card-scheme-gets-you-a-discount-every-time yet. Will make shamelessly liberal use of the free showers there. Use towels that are nearly ready for a wash one last time at the pool. Dry hair at home; not paying 20p when we live around the corner.

    * Make butternut squash and parsnip soup. Done. Also made mashed butternut in place of mashed potato to go with dinner tonight.

    * Continue to turn off Wifi Box when we go out. Done.

Things don't have to be perfect to be wonderful.

  • Evening everyone

CLF - I think that cold you’ve got has made its way over here :(. Feeling pretty pants and to add to that, DS seems to have himself a case of croup. Hope you’re feeling better soon!

Haven’t posted in a while as life has got in the way, but definitely need this thread to keep me motivated!

    So, today we have achieved...

    1. NSD :j:j:j

    2. All meals from stores. Made a lemon drizzle cake at DDs request for dessert - hoped it would last 2 days, but I’ve just seen DH have his third slice  so I doubt it will!

    3. Checked survey sites and managed a few more surveys. Had been sent £5 from swag$ which I have transferred to savings account (instant access so acts as emergency fund).

    4. Sewn up holes in cushion cover and DH trousers.

    5. Have hung up some red chillies to dry, which will then be part of a chilli-mad relative’s xmas present.

    6. Booked DH’s car for service. Phoned 3 garages (all trusted) and booked with the one that gave the cheapest quote.

    7. Made some carrot pur!e for DS to try. Will freeze in small batches to use as and when.

That’s all I can think of for now. Currently have DS sleeping on me and making it difficult to type so best be off!

A lovely evening to all! :)
Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.

Peaches - And don't forget you can serve them hot. Tip into a dish, add a bit of cinnamon & brown sugar, heat till nice & hot and serve with a blob of yoghurt. It will be more 'winter dessert-like' then the fruit & yoghurt combo you are bored with. Try topping porridge with this hot peach mixture. Nice!

    Evening Penny-Wranglers,
    Today's efforts:
    *Stayed home so now't spent.
*Used home-made tamale pie base from freezer for tonight's meal - just had to mix up the cornbread topping. Arguably the best way of making 100g mince do two large portions that I know.
*Made our Christmas braised red cabbage while we still have our stored apples to use. 5 containers frozen.
*Pegged overnight laundry out. 3/4 dry. Heated airer to bw switched on last thing to finish it off & maximise cheap night time tariff.
*Did a fair bit of Christmas present wrapping. Still using wrappings from my recycled stash...haven't had to break into a new roll at all yet.
*Two baths from one lot of hot water.
    *Picked home grown rocket.
*Made a packed lunch for tomorrow.
*Quick fridge triage provided my lunch.
*Made red onion salsa to use up lemon juice & fresh coriander.
*Was firm with cat, who tried his very hardest to procure a 2nd breakfast. No way, Matey! (Sad cat face for next hour & a half!)
    Cheers all,
    F x

    Evening all :)
Babysitting this morning, as DD had had no sleep, so we looked after GS while she climbed into our bed and went to sleep
We had planned to go out, but postponed till after lunch. Managed to get the ebay parcels posted, but forgot the RM surveys letters :o which will have to go tomorrow - when we are babysitting again....
Eventually went out in search of a freezer - no secondhand ones of the right size unfortunately, so had to dip into savings for a new one. Saw one I liked in a local / high street source (though not our town as it is too small to support an electrical shop), but 'supply issues' meant that they couldn't tell me when one might be available to buy (even though they had one on display in the shop) so I went online and ordered one for delivery on Friday - and retailers wonder why they are losing sales to online sources :(
Other than that, also had to spend on fuel  Not a very MSE day :o
All meals from home, finished off some leftovers for lunch, and made a frittata for dinner to use up some of the veg mountain :)
Checked banks and updated spreadsheet with direct debit bills and today's spends
Scrubbed out the meat safe :) which is currently drying in the woodshed. OH will treat the wood with kitchen worktop stuff (we have wooden worktops) when dry, to make it easier to clean.
Did a bit of tidying, and am seriously considering a really early night, as I will have GS all day tomorrow, and he is really hard work at the moment.
