Many thanks DawnW. Unfortunately bec I live in Wales (who passionately hate to sending people to England for treatment despite me needing very specialised treatment that I can only get in England) there are stupid politics to get thru, throw in a very incompetent health board that has made my GP life really difficult and it just becomes a nightmare which is impacting on my health :(

YS bread for toast for breakfast
Have started to package up the charity items with packaging I've saved at home. Don't know whether I'll have any left for Christmas presents so will have to make sure I keep saving any. I refuse to buy any packaging

Not sure what I'll have for food today, it will be a freezer dive. Trying to use up bits to make room for some Christmas bits or rather the meals made from Christmas leftovers
Hoping to list 2 more items on eBay
Quick tidy around, cat cleaning to be done and then back on bed rest :( if I get the motivation I might write a few more Christmas cards-have done 2 and then gave up!

DD sorted out a new phone yesterday, really not looking forward to ringing up the old. She was very proud of herself, got a deal on a black Friday promotion and they threw in extras. She cut a deal with the extras to have a phone case she really wanted instead. Resulting saving will be £17 a month, no deposit was paid and a free £20 phone case. She is forever comparing prices when going out for shopping, drives her BF crazy but he's getting used to it and has started to do a bit himself but not to the extent that my DD does :)

Have a great day everyone x

It's dreadful that there's so much politics involved when people's health and wellbeing is on the line :(

    Hi

Best wishes to all that are poorly :(

I managed to get a first coat of paint on all of the stair rails and skirtings last night yay now its all white and looks fresh- second coat is just not as bad so hoping all of the stairs will be finished today and i can concentrate on the walls - I wanted to get the lining room and the master bedroom done before xmas too - argh!

Shopped in Aldee yesterday to save some £s found some vegan Lebkuchen dark chocolate hearts - added to xmas food stash 99p

All xmas pressies are sorted into piles so i can start wrapping soon - last year was a nightmare as i left it last minute

I've done a load of laundry and a load of dishes this morning - 3 more laundry loads to go, Im doing the bedsheets and cushion covers today as the weather is dry and I can put on the line

Dinner today will be Linda McCartney Pie and Roast Dinner Veg

Lunch from stores - may make soup

I need to make a batch of mincemeat for the Xmas Fayre on Friday - I do different versions of Delia's recipe ( I hate dried mixed peel) this one will be crystallised ginger and instead of brandy Im using spiced, dark rum yummy, my last one was cranberry and orange, planning a cherry and amaretto version also

Off to make brekkie - don't know what yet - Ive lost my marmalade? weird

    Have a good day

    Morning all :)
Feeling really yucky due to cold :(
However, I slept ok considering, and am determined to get some stuff done!
    So far:
Potted the mincemeat I made yesterday (not one of Natlie's yummy sounding ones, but a traditional one with lots of whisky in it, that is however still quite yum :))
First Christmas pud cooked yesterday evening in the SC, taken out and covered with new foil. Second one now in :) (one is for DD). I also have a very little one, made from leftover mixture, which I will cook for tonight's dessert.
Load of washing done which I will peg outside in a minute
Recycling out, including a big cardboard box that I have broken up and put in the recycling bin
Beef joint for dinner later, will make little Yorkshire puds to go with it :)
Ought to make a batch of 'my' :rotfl:scones later - we call them Gran's scones here, as it was her recipe :) Although I am a gran now, so why not :rotfl:

    Hi Frugalistas,
Definitely not a no-spend day today as we've been to a local artisan food fayre...well...quite local, it was across county boundaries, so I suppose there was a petrol spend too....& we are also out tonight at a concert so will need to pay city centre parking. Anyway, today's efforts:
*4 more items sold on ebay & another couple of sales up today.
*We didn't go too mad at the festive food fayre. Bought a jar of local honey, which was a very good price, a bottle of local artisan beer to add to finish someone's Christmas box, 2 bags of stone ground flour from local windmill (good price compared to mass produced stuff) & some coffee beans, which were quite expensive but they were our treat to ourselves & we have put them away for Christmas. Free admission, mulled wine & mince pie on arrival. We did buy a coffee each, but that came with a free biscotti, so no temptation to buy further treats.
*Try & time arrival in city centre tonight so as to minimise parking charge. It's a bit cheaper on Sundays & with the 'free from 8pm' rule, timing will be everything.
*Considered going early & buying a meal out, but decided to eat our main meal at home at lunchtime & just take a couple of filled rolls & crisps with us. That will be a good saving at an expensive time of year.
*Froze some spare bacon which will be useful for another meal.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Knit a bit more jumper. I haven't done much knitting this week despite good intentions because of the tendon problem in my hand, but have bought a thumb/wrist support (that was £12 I didn't think I'd be needing to spend!) & that seems to be improving matters a bit. I had intended to cycle into town this week, but mr f reckons this would be foolhardy while my tendon is still a problem as he doesn't think I'll be able to manage the brakes properly. I might give things a few more days, then try a shorter journey to see how it goes.
    Cheers all,
    F xx

    Afternoon all,
In the way of small things we've
    * checked mse energy club as our current deal was ending and nothing on there was cheaper then the renewal quote so we've stuck with the same supplier. (Got them to change the date the DD goes out too which helps)
    * been to the cinema with the kids, we paid using gift cards we bought (paid £20 but £25 gift card) but this was part of last years xmas gift money from MIL so no cost to us - also took our own snacks
    * checked that ds1's mobile sim deal had applied, he's wanting more data so he's paying the extra.
    * all meals from stores
    * shared bath water
    * kept heating to a minimum, (and not before jumpers have been put on!)
    * kept on top of energy use (everything that isn't in use is switched off at the socket like microwaves/oven games consoles tv's etc)
    * sync calendars with the extended family as we've various things we are all doing for one another at the minute, with different working patterns, school clubs and holidays etc - very lucky on this one.
    * continuing to try and spend less time online, am using the screentime thing on my mobile to stop me mindlessly browsing in an evening :)
    * made families lunches for tomorrow

Thats about it. Take care all.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
