Got to the end of the receipt 'stash'; last lot ready for shredding. This really has been a massive frog because it's just built up and built up and even though I have attempted to deal with it it has never been done (ie receipts checked against bank records, saved if key/big purchases; shredded if not) for two years...
Now made a start on the bureau. The bureau belonged to my much-loved Great Aunt who lived next door to my Grandma. I used to play in it when I was a little girl (I also have her sister's (my other Great Aunt) sewing box; again childhood memories. 35 (thirty five!) biros going into work - they will go on the desk where people sign in/out. Because, of course, they walk...
I still have a pencil case (well two) so won't go short of writing implements.
There's also a pad of post it notes going in and a highlighter. Some had to be binned. Spare fairy light bulbs and candle bridge bulbs have gone into basket of spare bulbs.
I've also located a memory stick I thought I had mislaid. Not that I use them any more, and there are a few, but at least one of them is encrypted and has been signed for. So it's quite feasible that sometime I'm going to have to be able to put my hand on it at short notice.
It's really quite a positive feeling. Having watched Hoarders on TV I quite get how people become so overwhelmed by grief that they are completely unable to deal with the minutiae of day-to-day living.
