I'm so glad that it has cooled down although we didn't even have the promised storms here. My house still feels hot so I have the fan on.7

Phoebe that is a very attractive vase of flowers. I hope they give you lots of joy
My Champagne moments were getting different items of No7 skincare and make up to put away for Christmas present in 2 of my local Boots. I only spent £35 but I saved a total of £122.50 on my purchases, so I am feeling happy and contented6 -
They are, Bubblesmum
Congrats on passing your last uni assessment for the year!
Sugarbaby, thank you - they are very uplifting! I tried to take inspiration from Monty Don's Jewel Garden, having just read his book of the same title
More amazing savings for you there and well done for finally getting your covid hardship payment from the council too!
No more storms here, but today it's very dull yet still muggy. So many leaves came off our trees in all the rain we had earlier in the week, the garden has an autumnal feel already.....
Champagne moments so far today - picking up a couple of lovely copper pans in Homesense for DS's birthday next weekend. Saved a few £££ and they'll boost his growing collection of copper kitchenalia! Also found a sweet little red vase for our kitchen for only £3....bargain!
In the garden, my angelica gigas has opened! I thought I'd missed out on getting one of these for this year, then found one reduced at our local small nursery
Picked a few more beans this morning which we'll have with a roast chicken etc, probably tomorrow. Also the first of our onions are ready, so have hung them up to dry. We've never grown onions before, so really happy they seem to have turned out ok. Same with cabbages, which we tried once a few years back but had loads of issues with cabbage white butterflies. This time we've only got a couple but they're looking healthy and increasing nicely in size which bodes well.......Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Bubblesmum Congratulations on completing your final assignment for Uni.
Phoebe great photos once again. Keep them coming please5 -
hello my lovely friends.Bubblesmum. Congratulations on passing your uni assessment. Well done you. Onwards and upwards. 🥂.Well not exactly a Champagne moment more a deep satisfaction and relief at a horrible job finally completed. Yes I have managed to break the surface of the soil in the front garden enough so that I could scatter Claybreaker. Again I couldnt dig or even use the hoe to break it up, I had to use hand tools. Slow and painstaking and murder on the wrists and my right shoulder. In fact the palm of my right hand is bruised. But....it's done. Wahoo.I think I will crack open a bottle of wine tonight And celebrate .........I soooooo deserve it. 😂.I'm hoping we will get some rain soon, we still haven't had any to speak of and the ground is absolutely parched. I water in the evening but even though I drench the saplings They aren't looking happy. The need a few days of good slow steady rain.Great pics again Phoebe. My front garden is now starting to show a bit of colour, mainly geraniums and dahlias but the back is like an arid desert, with just a couple of shrubs and 6 saplings hanging on for dear life. Hopefully next year will see an improvement. I have to remind myself that a garden takes love, patience and above all time. The problem is the soil hasn't been worked properly for years. Hey ho. I'll turn that back garden into an oasis yet. It gets sun and light so that's a good place to start. If it rains tomorrow I might do some painting for a little light relief. I haven't held a paintbrush for a couple of weeks, I'm getting withdrawal symptoms. 😉.I had to order a new fridge freezer this morning, mine is about to die. I was a bit miffed but then I realised it was 8 years old so it doesn't owe me anything. Ive ordered stainless steel, nothing fancy but it should look nice.Going to,take it easy now.
Have a great weekend.......keep those champagne moments coming.6 -
Phoebe, fab photos.Bubblesmum well done!LL, well done on the back breaking gardening. It will all be worth it.Sugarbaby, you sure know how to bag a bargain!6

My Champagne moments yesterday were all to do with having my older son, his 2 daughters and my younger son all come to visit. There was lots of fun and laughter in my home.
My 13 and 14 year old granddaughters. My older son's daughters (1st photo) and my older sonExcuse my lack of a bra, I forgot to put one on. I never bother if I am at home, I only wear one if I am going outside my home. Not a good look, but ego aside, at least I was really comfortable. LOL

Good Morning my lovely friends
Lovely pics, SUgarbaby. Glad you had such a nice time with your family. Our loved ones have become even more precious now haven't they. I have just come off the phone with my SIL. She lives in Scotland and she has just invited herself And her daughter down to stay with me in the autumn, virus permitting. It will be lovely if they can make it.I'm a tad sore and stiff after my exertions yesterday but I have had a nice long soak in an Epsom salt bath this morning so I'm gradually loosening up.And I've just painted my toenails Chinese red, just because. 😂.
Well I am so glad I got the garden finished yesterday because today it's finally raining. Wahoo. At the moment a lovely soft gentle rain which will be so good for the garden. So seeing as out of doors is out of bounds today I'm going to get the paint brushes out in a bit and make a start on a little cupboard I bought to fit into an alcove in the dining room for extra storage. It's only one of those cheap Mexican pine ones but I will paint it pale grey. I might decorate it, not quite sure yet.So...a gentle day today, painting, a bit of cupboard tidying, nice dinner and then the final episode of Downton Abbey. Perfick. 😁8 -
I am still enjoying looking at my gold nail polish on my toe nails 2 weeks later. I originally painted them gold for my great niece's birthday party. I was wearing a pair of my favourite Van Dal suede and leather gold trimmed sandals
