Since he virus scare I've tended to want light hearted not scary they tended to panic me, better now though.I'm not fussy on comedies I hardly ever find them funny, I'm the strange person who laughs at some of the serious stuff Am I the only one who does that? It's gone very dark quickly I hope it's not a storm coming.Glad you had a nice day. I enoy reading all the posts here and love the garden pics and the sheep.Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £379.00

You're not alone.....I don't always find comedies funny, especially the American sitcoms. That canned laughter really grates. I Prefer witty dialogue rather than set piece jokes or staged situations. I do like some stand up comedians but not the ones who just tell jokes. I know he's trendy but I can't stand Jimmy Carr. I prefer observational humour, what I call the "philosophy of life" chat. John Bishop, Michael MacIntyre. I do like "Pointless". Love Alexander Armstrong. He is a great wit and raconteur (and he can sing) and he and Richard Osmond seem to spark off each other. It's like when old friends get together and just sit chatting over a few drinks, letting the conversation roam. They wander off into the realms of the surreal and can be very funny.
Well Hello my lovely friends. Champagne moments last night were sitting out in my garden, it was just a nice temperature for me after the searing heat of the day. I didn't open any wine to raise a glass to my husband because there's are a lot of WW points in a whole bottle of wine and I'm trying to be good. Instead I toasted his memory with a delicious cup of coffee and just a little dark chocolate with sea salt. Lovely. Aldi £1.49. What I like is that instead of a large bar that you need to break off it consists of several mini bars. So perfect for dieters. Each bar is just enough and less temptation than a large bar or a box of chocolates.Champagne moments thIs Mornjng. Waking up feeling refreshed after a lovely long sleep, knowing that I got through the anniversary and am now ready for a fresh day. As Nina Simone sings......"It's a new dawn, a new day and I'm feeling good". One of my favourite singers......I love music too. I have just set up my CD player on my new bookcase in my lounge. So instead of watching crap tv I'm going to make sure I listen to music more often. I might even roll up the carpet and start dancing my way to fitness. 💃. I had intended to start dance classes this year but of course lockdown put a stop to that. Never mind, one day.
Right going to get cracking before it gets too hot to do anything. A nice gentle day planned. A bit of pampering and beautifying, Some yoga, a healthy breakfast and a walk. Going to call in at the cheapo Almost a £ shop and see if I can pick up some cheap plant pots. And see what bargains they've got. They Sometimes do a freeze gel for sore muscles ........a fraction of the price of the branded stuff at chemists or supermarket and just as good.Have a great day y'all. Keep those champagne moments flowing.7 -
glad you got through yesterday LL, tough day for you. Thanks for the recommendations . I've not quite finished Downton, then I will watch the film.I really enjoyed last tango, the A word, and Happy Valley during this lockdown. I think that I have watched more tv in the last few months than I have in years!Enjoy your Tuesday. My champagne moment is a meal out this evening with family5

Glad you made it through yesterday ok, LL.....sounds as though you treated yourself enough to wake up feeling refreshed and ready for whatever a new day brings forth
I'm not at all keen on comedy/comedians either, although for some inexplicable reason I do like Hugh Dennis. Can't stand most of the rest and rarely watch shows that others find funny. DH, otoh, loves it all
We don't have Netflix, but do buy quite a few DVDs as we find much of what's on TV uninspiring. Apart from those already mentioned (another vote for The Devil's !!!!!!, but have never watched Last Tango or Doc Martin), box sets/mini series we've enjoyed are -
Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Versailles, The Crown, Taboo, Wolf Hall, Ripper Street, Vikings, The Borgias, Parade's End, Sherlock (also adored Jeremy Brett as Holmes!), The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Gangs of London, Foyle's War, The Hollow Crown, Grantchester, Poldark, Endeavour, Lewis and of course Morse.
A while back I watched The Camomile Lawn and A Dance to the Music of Time on catch up, both of which were really good, imho. We also have the original Brideshead Revisited series (didn't like the later film version) and the complete set of Jonathan Creek, Poirots/Marple DVDs and have re-watched those umpteen times.
Recently on TV we liked The Deceived and Mrs America. We began watching Harlots last week, but found the *background* music too distracting and didn't really enjoy much of it except the costumes, lol, so probably won't continue with that.....
DH watched Catherine the Great, but I didn't get past the first episode....I didn't like War and Peace either
Champagne moments today - my lovely new outdoor mirrors arrived first thing this morning! I only ordered them on Saturday, so that was superfast. Not only that, but they were a really good price and are great quality too. I'll definitely be buying from that company again
We're not quite ready to hang them yet, but just so glad to have snapped them up as only two places had them and at the other one they were out of stock.
After yesterday's storms it's back to sunshine today which is great for DH working out of doors. Will probably eat outside again later as the thunder/rain is due to reappear tomorrow....so have to make the most of it!
Going to crack on with more writing after a light lunch......Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

How could I forget Poldark. 😂. And yes Endeavour Morse Lewis. All I can say is Oxford must be a terrible place to live - so many murders. Ha ha. There’s a good one set in the north east with Martin Shaw as the detective. Set in the 60s. Can’t remember the name. And 24. I loved that.I couldn’t get on with Harlots either. Keep meaning to watch mrs America. When you stop to think there are loads really. And then there’s films ......I still watch DVDs. I pick them up from the chazzers. Usually my favourite chazzer has a section of dvds, cds and books. 3 for £. You can mix and match. At that price I can give things a whirl. If I don’t like them or don’t want to keep them I just donate them back.So hot here. I’ve come indoors. It’s like a furnace out there.5

Love Morse but I don't have a dvd player must get my grandaughter to set one up for me I just had a new router and wouldn't have a clue how to set it up and she did it in minutes.Didn't like harlots either gave up soon. There are loads and I've found I prefer to watch repeats lately when I was never one to watch anything twice. I have netflix but lots of rubbish on there too.Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

My Champagne moment today was finally receiving my Covid-19 Council Tax hardship payment of £150
I had to make a complaint about not receiving it on 6th July 2020, so I am over the moon that I have finally received it from the Lambeth Council Tax department.
