plenty of champagne moments! i'm nearly at the end of Downton Abbey, it's funny, never fancied it, but I've really enjoyed it. I will watch the film too, then I will be looking for something else to binge watch!

Thunderstorms here today.....one of our dogs (an 8 year old miniature labradoodle) has been petrified, poor little chap. Firstly, whilst out for a pee he made a break for freedom through the hedging behind our garden that leads in one direction to a field (often full of cows or sheep, but fortunately empty today) and in the other to the mansion garden.
I'd only turned my back for two seconds to pull out a weed and he was gone and absolutely nowhere to be seen. Luckily I was able to lure him back (from the mansion, as it happens) with the promise of cheese, lol! After more than ten minutes shouting his name and "cheese" at the top of my voice, he reappeared through the undergrowth....good job we're rural or someone might have heard me
Once safely indoors he wouldn't settle anywhere downstairs but kept attempting to get behind the huge pile of sanitary ware for the new bathroom. In the end I had to make him a tented area with his bed and toys in our bedroom so that he feels safe, bless him.....
I've been keeping him company sitting on the bed, catching up with some long overdue writing. Will be cooking roast pork and all the trimmings this evening as it's turned cooler again.
Our *lawns* here (there are three including the front) are pretty abysmal, LL....none very large but all full of weeds/holes/stones, so I don't blame you at all for wanting an easier life
One is our apology for an *orchard* which we had planned to turn into a wildflower meadow, but will probably put our chickens there if we get some next year and hope they keep it under control!
It's fine when newly strimmed (too many obstacles in the form of trees to mow properly), but most of the time it looks pants!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

hello my lovely friends
I love Downton. So many interesting characters. I just adore the dowager Countess, (The Maggie Smith character). She reminds me of an old aunt of mine. She was very grand, Although as a widow she was as poor as a church mouse. She was a stickler for "doing the right thing" and always insisted on best behaviour. Woe bedtide you if you forgot your manners. But underneath the frosty exterior she was a pushover with a heart of gold. I used to wrap her round my little finger. 😂On my 4th birthday she took me to a really posh children's wear shop which catered for the well to do. She told me to choose any dress I wanted. I chose a blue velvet number with a lace collar. I always did have champagne tastes, even then. It was very expensive. Although being so young I didn't realise at the time that the dress was probably more than my aunt could really afford. Had I been older I would have known to chose something less extravagant. But, she never said a word, she just smiled and told me I looked beautiful. I danced out of the shop in my new dress feeling like a princess.I do feel for poor Mr Barrow, so misunderstood, such an unhappy man but yes often his own worst enemy. Thank goodness homosexuals aren't treated like that now - at least not In the UK.
Bit of a melancholy day, feel a bit fragile but I'm ok, just riding it out. A friend dropped off a bunch of flowers to cheer me up. Managed to go chiro. I also treated myself to my sunekos top up. This is a course of injections of hyralonic and amino acids to help keep my face symmetrical following surgery for cancer a few years ago. The surgery left my face lopsided due to the amount of Skin tissue that had to be removed round the cancer. I then had PDO threads as part of the reconstruction process and the sunekos is part of the maintenance Programme. The bonus is that by slightly lifting and plumping up the skin it softens the worst of my wrinkles. Every cloud has a silver lining. 😂🤣.And yes a champagne moment when I look in the mirror and see my face symmetrical again.I was naughty at lunch. I allowed myself a once in a blue moon portion of macaroni cheese. Comfort food. But as it blows my WW point budget out the water, it has to be a very rare treat.Anyway. That's the anniversary safely negotiated for another year. DS1 was a bit low too but he's OK. I didnt see the boys, I prefer to be alone. They don't mind, they understand. Back to normal service tomorrow. No storms here yet, Mr M, my sons cat isn't keen on thunder either. When he lived with me, he would cuddle up on the sofa with me, looking very sorry for himself. I think a lot of pets are a bit scared of storms.6 -
Binge watch recommendations???Depends what you like. My all time favourite is Game of Thrones, although it is violent and there is a lot of sex so I can see why some people don't like it. I also really enjoyed Line Of Duty. Might watch that again. I like Cold Feet. And I watch the odd Doc Martin. It's sweet. Last Tango in Halifax, some right oddballs in that one. 😂
If ever you get the opportunity I can recommend The Devils W h o r e . Only 4 parts though so not really bingeworthy as such but a great story. I think it might still be on ITV catch-up. I watched The Handmaids Tale. Very bleak but I felt series 2 dragged on a bit. Another old favourite is House. I also like The NIght Manager. Again not many episodes but a nice little thriller. I like Shetland. I keep meaning to try some of the Scandi Noir thrillers. And of course, Sharpe and Hornblower. 😂🤣.
Still haven't watched Peaky Blinders yet. It's on the list. Can't think of any more offhand. I haven't been watching many series lately, mainly films.7 -
LL it is a good that you managed to go to your appointments and get through the day. Judging by the photo your husband was a very fun loving person, so no wonder that you miss that part of his personality and miss him. Self care is even more important on a day like today.3

Thanks for binge watch recommendations, I've seen and enoyed some of those. Since he virus scare I've tended to want light hearted not scary they tended to panic me, better now though.I'm not fussy on comedies I hardly ever find them funny, I'm the strange person who laughs at some of the serious stuff Am I the only one who does that? It's gone very dark quickly I hope it's not a storm coming.Glad you had a nice day. I enoy reading all the posts here and love the garden pics and the sheep.Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)
