It says I owe £13.54 and directly underneath it, it adds
"Includes a £1 handling fee for underpaid items"

Not my fault RM are that sloppy that they'll put wrong cards through the door instead of the proper ones that state the £8 handling fee

I suppose it would confuse you, still, keep taking the tablets.

as i said that is the charge card for RM
    it is the correct card
otherwise why would it have a section for customs charges?

yeah I don't exactly understand the charge either, in my experience (only twice I'll admit, but different item values) the charge is £8. Last order for instance I paid £7 VAT and £8 RM delivery charge.

Also I am a tad confused about people saying RM is collecting duty on behalf of HMRC and that's why it's £8 and not say £2-2.50, which posting a parcel of 3 t-shirts would probably cost. If an item has a value below £135 or if it is above but import duty is below £9, then import duty is wavered and you're only paying for VAT if it's over £18(£40 for a gift). It's itemised on the letter through the door so it's clear I have paid £7 in VAT and then £8 for Royal Mail to deliver it, amusing because last time I got nothing for ages, thought my parcel was lost, I got a slip through the door dated 11/08/10, when this was 19/08/10, I had to go to the local depot and get it myself....not worth £8.

well for starters i assume you mean USPS?
you pay tax like everyone else
what was the declared value on the item?
    was the 'letter' from Parcelforce?
    postage paid is irrelevant

there has to be a customs declaration on the package
postage/insurance is irrelevant bar its cost being combined on the value for tax purposes

no because this is how the duty has been calculated
they take the value (inc postage if it triggers duty) and calculate on that
theres no way it was £30 given you have £14 worth of duty charged
