I can't find it posted in this thread (but I'm sure someone will prove me wrong) but if you want a sim-only deal, Giff-Gaff do some great deals that you'd be hard-pressed to beat.
Their regular monthly deals are:
100 mins - Unlimited Text - Unlimited Interweb = £10
300 mins - Unlimited Text - Unlimited Interweb = £15
Unlimited EVERYTHING = £35
Currently, it's half price in July. You can also buy 2 months at a time so you could cover August too.
30 day (IIRC) contract only.
I have absolutely no interest in the company, it's just they often get mentioned on HUKD and if I was after a Sim-only deal, I'd be there in a flash. The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.

Have been with T-mobile for years, have a good loyalty discount, but every time the contract runs out they whack up the tariff, say nothing, and wait for me to complain.
I am a low rate phone user and also use my 3G sparingly in my laptop dongle (just when talktalk broadband goes down:D) Use it mobile at times though.
My mobile number is on a lot of databases so the obvious option of PAYG is doubtful. But 34/36 quid a month is just too much. Still too much if I haggle them back to 25/26 quid.
Should I go for a sim that can be in the phone most of the time and used in the 3G when required. Or is there another dual deal out there I should look at. I can't do my internet work through a phone, it has to be on a PC on the occasions I use it.
As an extreme I could go PAYG and go through the pain of getting my numbered altered on all my business contacts, and just have a 3G sim. Any ideas please? - very welcome thanks.
Life used to be simple !
cheers

Found this deal on MobilePhoneChecker.co.uk
Free Nokia 1208
100 mins / Unlimited texts
18 months @ £20 = £360
Cashback by redemption = £370
Monthly cost £-0.56
My cashback by redemption with Phones4U has just expired - I might try this deal and sell the ancient phone they provide for tuppence0 -
I have searched advice on here and read forums but can't find an answer. can anyone help ? I have O2 deal £15 monthly which gives me - I thinnk 3oo texts and 300 minutes talk. I have a nice old phone and don't want e mail or anything else. I am not using anything like all my allowance and think I'd be better having a PAYG. Would like to stay with O2 as they seem Ok, and want to use my existing phone and SIM card, but how do I find out if/how I can do this and if it would be cheaper. I do use phone for texts from France occasionally, but that's the most exotic my usage ever gets ! Would be grateful for any help/advice....0

Hi
I'd go on the O2 website and compare the current PAYG SIM only deals - to work out the cost per text / telephone call against your actual monthly usage.
If you wish to go ahead with PAYG I'd dial 202 on your O2 mobile phone (no call charge) to speak to O2 customer services about changing.
They will likely insist on 1 months notice to cancel your existing monthly contract. If so, ask them to confirm the date of your final direct debit payment (so you can cancel it thereafter) and the date the airtime on your monthly contract will expire.
I reckon they will then automatically switch you to PAYG without having to actually change your SIM, phone or your mobile no. once your airtime period expires on your monthly contract.
I did this with Virgin mobile a while ago so hopefully O2 will be the same for you.
Hope this helps0 -
Discovered whilst searching this site that Tesco mobile was o2 which I didn't know before. I was looking for the most competitive contract/sim only deals for my kids when I stumbled on what I think is fantastic.
£6 a month with 100 mins and unlimited texts:j.
My local store did not know anything about this and told me it was probably online only, which it is . Another thing to note is that I found it very difficult to re-find the information. It is not on tesco.com but only on 'tescomobilepaymonthly' I was able to keep my present number in the same phone and am quids in.0 -
try tesco pay monthly. found £6 a month sim only with 100 mins and unlimited texts. Tesco are o2 coverage too. My kids were payg with o2 but I have switched them to this and kept their numbers too.0

look at tesco. In store not always the same as online. Think there's a deal on where if you spend £40 instore you get £20 off phones. They also have £10 sim only where you get 250 mins with unlimited texts.0

I hope somone finds the time to update this excellant table. Life is complicated enough in the world of cheap or free sim-only pay as you go deals; anything more complex is too hard for some of us to compare!
According to the table, any of giffgaff, asdamobile, or libera or vectone are pretty good value with vectone cheapest but terrible for callcentre service; giffgaff are more honest in simply not offering it at all.0 -
I got £6 cashback pending by going through Topcashback with the Tesco £6 monthly mobile deal.0
