  • why dont people use the o2 sim only contracts. My friedns and family are on o2, I have a 10 pound contract with a free o2 to o2 calls bolt on. I use thousands of minutes for only a tenner!!

If you don't mind having an old phone sim only contracts are the way to go. You only have to give a month to cancel them with no minimum contract period. I'm on orange, but it gets a bit expensive once you go over your original agreed amount I'm going to change to carphone warehouse, which has some stupidly cheap sim only contracts. If I don't like that then I'll just go back to pay as you go, which I have used successfully for the last 5years, long-term contracts always stitch you up!

  • I have had a 3 mobile contract for about 5 years its given me suprisingly good coverage and saved me a fortune. During this period I have recommended the network to friends.
However in the last year I have had so many problems that it has caused me to reconsider whether It offers good value.

In april prior to my holiday I took out a new contract as I has started to have connnection problems with my sony ericson phone. Strangely the new handset (c510) had a similar problem calls dropping out poor coverage in prevoiusly good areas unable to contact to email and memory too full to send texts. The Customer service has been appalling and despite two repairs I am left with a phone that basically doesn't work and a company that refuses to accept you have a problem. During the last six months my phone bill has been minimal as I simply have not been able to access the service. Good value certainly isn't just about the initial price of the contract but the overall service you recieve and you need to factor in service/coverage etc when selecting your provider. Would I recommend 3 as value for money? No

    Hi
What is the general opinion on Vodafones Nokia 5800 at £20 a month for 300 anytime mins and unlimited texts with £120 cashback via Quidco? It is a 2 year contract though?
This will be my 1st contract so would like any advise before signing the dotted line;)
    TIA
  • im new to to this website but i was on free minutes and texts off the blyk network and they have know shut down in the uk. i wanted to know if any1 has found a cheaper deal than 3 on pay as you go they give you unlimited skype calls msn forever, then unlimiter 3 to 3 calls for 90 days for a 10 top up and 300. but the problem is there network needs a 3g phone and i cant find 1 under £20 which is compatible with skype so i would need a contract and the best deal they are doing at the moment is a 6 month contract for £15/18month for 300/500 text or minutes mixed plus 300/500 3 to 3 minutes then go through quidco get cashback 32.50. so works around 60 quid. the thing is i cant seem to get any cheaper deals as i havent seen anyother cashback site offering the 6 month contracts it only directly from three anybody knows if there is any cashback site with actually does 3 contracts on 6 months. i dont mean quid and topcashback i mean actual phone dealers like carphone etc.

Mins & texts, but no internet makes taking a phone like that pointless imho. I keep think that's what I want, but I would probably not want to pay a tarrif at the price level that gets internet bundled.
Unless you're going to flog the phone, 'cos you can get £98 from mazuma.
    £20 x 24 = £480 - £90 (quidco - only £90) - £98 = £292 / 24 months = £12.16 per month, but no phone??
  • I've done 2 Vodaphone 12 month contracts for 2 different handsets with Mobiles 2 Your Door (offshoot of Phones 4 U). Both cashbacks and the forst one gave 11 months cashback and I was able to go through Quidco. Basically cost zilch.

Just done same for my son, this 12 month contract is costing 3 months payments (as long as I claim the cashback)

They have been good as gold with cashback forms and payments...you only need to send form in within 60 days of relevant bill, so no pressure.
Impressive compared to how much I could be paying, or indeed was paying on PAYG at rate kids were using their phones...
    Good luck!
