  • So my pot came today and it is lovely. I transferred my silver bits and bobs. I am only going to bank silver in the sealed pot and pennies and two pence pieces in a tin. I am off!♀️

Hi Su - I'd like to join the sealed pot challenge for the coming year please!

I have a tin.It is sealed. And I have a few pound coins in there to start - i think all i need is a number when you're ready :) I won't set a target since it's my first year, but i will have a think about what I'm aiming for!

Welcome to the club Homegrown0. Pop in as little or as often as works for you, there's always a bit of chit chat along with the updates. And good luck with the potting.

Well nothing potted for me since the start of last week, I haven't spent a great deal of cash so no pennies left over, and then we suffered a very unexpected loss in the family over the weekend so haven't really been doing a lot of spending. Although I do need to work through the 'just spend money for the sake of it' phase, 'you can't take it with you' phase and the 'life's too short' phase and get a grip on my spending thoughts.

Sorry to hear the news about the cataract Sue, must be very annoying and worrying.

    Hope everyone else is well.

I sure did Dolly! Figure I need to get my finger out and have a focus and this is a good way of doing it :) Not sure whether to use this as holiday spending money in the summer / put it towards overpaying debt or Christmas 2019 but I'll figure that out along the way.

For now, another £2.40 went into the pot this morning after I emptied out my handbag! I'm keeping it at silver and above - we have a separate tub for coppers :T

Thanks for the welcome EverTheEnthusiast - I'll be doing my best to check in when I can / when I have something to report!

You've got time to decide what you want to use it for.

Think my plan is to use it for Christmas 2019 or add it to my Home Fund!

 I'd like to join please. I've done the 1p a day savings thing myself the past couple of years and it has felt great counting out the cash before I go Christmas shopping. I'll be doing it again this year and trying the £1 a week version too, though that might get a bit rich for my budget! I have also been saving 5ps and 50ps so will keep doing that. I also often get windfall change from pockets when I do the laundry (£1.20 yesterday!) so will start dropping that in too.

I have a terramundi pot that already has a few £2 coins in it so shall start using that rather than the tins. I'm hoping to beat the £710 I saved this year.

    Hi guys!

May I please join in Sue-UU? Bit late to the party but I'd love to see if I can save even a little bit for next Christmas like this!

I have a Terramundi pot that I've used/emptied loads over the years, so I'll be using that one!

I may also make use of a Holding Pot for amounts over £1, but I will add this to the Sealed Pot at least monthly when I've been paid just in case I need it urgently.

When I get home in a minute I have some coppers to add in for my first installment!

    Thanks!

Thanks for your thoughts ETO, I'm definitely not worried about it as they're quite common, I just knew something was very wrong and thought it was the specs. You take care!
