Hi Potters! I hope you all have a really brilliant weekend. Amazing what a difference the onset of some beautiful weather makes to our SPC thread.
I really don't blame anyone at all. Enjoy it while it's here.
For those who are not well or who are low in spirits, take great care of yourselves. Get well soon and {{{{hugs}}}} from all the SPC family. :grinheart
My cash definitely seems to disappear in no time, Salesharky, far too quickly for my liking!
Great work with what you've potted, but with the £9 you're debating about, why not get yourself a "Holding Pot". Have a look at the first post, it tells you all about it.
Saving Glut!!! :eek:That's terrible in letting a ruddy vending machine have the £1.20 rather than having it lovingly saved!!
Ah bless you, Pm02, we had a smashing day thanks.
Nice work with the shrapnel!!
Crikey you do surprise me, datlex!! I bet that gave you a shock. Fingers crossed you can save again soon.
Excellent potting, Whatshername!!! :jKeep building it up and you'll be thrilled to bits come October!! Just about 7 months to go, think of the money you can save between now and then!!!!
Roll on pay day, I guess that's today, and more cash to the pot, Hettyhound!!
Thank you so very much, siju, we, like you, had a wonderful time. Congratulations to you on your 50th Birthday!!!!! 🎶🎂 🥂🍾Bless your DH, what an amazing surprise, which he'd clearly put a great deal of thought into! Memories like that last forever!
I've never been to Longleat, DH went yonks ago with his family, but to be honest, it's never really appealed to me, but it was obviously very special for you all, and I'm thrilled for you!
Great potting siju!! :j
Hello Lucy! I'm pleased you've still done some potting, though would agree that it's never so easy if you're at home. I hope you're still doing well.
Good to hear of your intentions, Dolly, all the best to you.
A woman after my own heart, jakes-mum, Valentine's Day is nowt but a money spinner...or wannabe. DH & I have never once bothered about it, we know we love each other 365 days a year!!
What a great idea with the Mother's Day cards!! It's saved your youngsters a fortune and will save you routing through goodness knows how many when you're in your dotage!
Aha, I see, although you don't want grandkiddies yet (I don't blame you at Jake's age) you're already getting prepared for them! They're an absolute joy, believe me! We get more time to enjoy them than we did our own treasures, sad 😒 really but it seems to be true.
I'm glad you also agree too, Westie! After all, why should we line the pockets of others! I hope word spreads far and wide about jakes-mum's idea!
Excellent potting, datlex!!! So sorry to hear about your Mum, you may well be right about the reason she's not talking.
However, the only thing I can advise is; be careful it isn't about more than what you think it is. My Mum became terribly strange, nasty too in her 70s, she wouldn't let us go and see her, she wouldn't come to our DDs wedding, endless strange things, and she lived 70 miles from us. We had countless telephone discussions, but she wouldn't budge!
In the end, after a care worker ringing me due to Mum having to be hospitalised she told us the sad story of it all because of Alzheimer's!!!!Have a really Super Weekend, folks, don't forget to feed your pots!!!
Don't forget the clocks tomorrow!!
Sue
NB folks: Opening date for SPC 12 will be 31st October 2019

What a lovely idea Jakes-mum, I like that idea alot, saves on cards for sure.
Westie983
We've only been running it a couple of years and I already wish i'd started it when they were both old enough to hold a pen but still plenty of years to get it filled up and I thought it might also be nice for them once i'm gone to keep hold of to remember me (got a bit morbid then sorry! no intentions of going anywhere for many many years!)Hi Potters
What a great idea with the Mother's Day cards!! It's saved your youngsters a fortune and will save you routing through goodness knows how many when you're in your dotage!

I never put those cards away either, they each have a box they came in and I keep them up for a week and then put them in their boxes on the shelf next to me
My mum always said if she knew how much fun being a Gran was she'd have skipped the whole parent thing and gone straight to the grandkids :rotfl:
I am very much looking forward to being a Gran but my Jake is still way to young and has much to much life to live before he settles down to a familybut once he does, this Gran will be ready to pack them full of sugar, make them as messy as possible, tire them out and send them home :rotfl: and though he always grumps about how our lives wont be changing when the time comes, their Bampy (DH is Welsh in case I never mentioned that before) will spoil them rotten with ice creams, sweets, money out of his pocket and anything else he sets his eyes on that they might like
. DH will never change, he was like it with our nieces and nephews so he'll be 100x worse with grandkids :rotfl:
Sorry to hear about your mum issues Datlex
I wont be buying anything either for my mum as she's swanned off to South Africa for 3 months and doesn't come home till middle of April :rotfl:
I will get her something for when she gets home but she's a bit like me, she likes a facebook post or a phone call, but she does LOVE to get a bunch of flowers so I tend to buy her a bunch each special day as she rarely gets them from anyone else. We have a running joke about yellow stickers, as children we pretty much lived off yellow sticker foods and she used to say 'yellow sticker for freshness that!', so if I get flowers reduced I have to leave the sticker on so I can say 'yellow sticker for freshness mum!'. She highly approves of reduced items :rotfl:

Have done some more potting today, the rainy day fund (as the jar says on it) is now at £124. I have £12.82 left in my bank unallocated to last until Wednesday. Rest of money is allocated and set aside from that. Not sure how much of the £12.82 I will need, doesn't sound much but I only need a few bits to be able to make breakfasts (thinking eggs and mushrooms from Aldi) and lunches (thinking jacket potatoes and toppings). The question is do I take out £10, pot any change and put £2.82 towards mortgage overpayment or do I pay on my card and put all towards mortgage overpayment. On the one hand it will be nice to add to my pot. On the other hand, over paying my mortgage even by a few £s each week helps.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

I think I would take the £10 out for shopping and pot any change and send the £2.82 to the mortgage; as they say every little helps. I’ve potted another 19p loose change from today’s shopping so now I’ve got to batch cook everything but really can’t be bothered tonight so might do it tomorrow. I’m another one who doesn’t bother about mother’s day. I lost my mum in 2011 and my son is too young. He got a bit upset tonight when he heard someone say it was mother’s day tomorrow so I’ve just told him I don’t need a special day because everyday we spend together is special. He says he’s going to be nice to me all day tomorrow, I give it 5 minutes!SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86[/COLOUR]:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)0
