Morning. I have had a weetabix with hot water and a pear 🍐 so only half my b. Not sure what to have for lunch yet but I will have pasta for tea if my dh goes fishing 🎣. Not sure if not. Mm not very good at planning it’s a bit in the air0

GTS - no you're not being miserable turning down a nomination. Lots of people do. My friend has been nominated numerous times for various competitions (she's been a target member for about 12 years now). It's entirely up to you.
I don't mind the taster mornings as it gives you a chance to try things you may not have had before. Yesterday someone bought in the new Cinnamon Coke and lots of people tried it - there was quite a split between lovers and haters of it, also quite a few who said they'd drink it if someone gave them a glass but wouldn't buy it! I didn't try it as can't stand coke, full stop!
Enjoy your date night.
fatrab it probably won't be as bad as you think especially with sticking to soda water & lime and leaving the alcohol alone - that's where most of the syns come from when eating out!
Having a Green day today:
B - stuffed portobello mushroom - stuffed with couscous, the mushroom stalks & spring onions
L - carrot & lentil soup
D - cauliflower cheese; sweet potato chips
HEA - milk in tea as usual
HEA2 - milk in cheese sauce
HEB1 - cheese in sauce & topping
HEB2 - bread 0.5; hifi bar 0.5
Syns - None planned but maybe a G&T or 2 tonight

Quiet day/evening - I didn't go running this morning but may go tomorrow if I'm up in time and choir tonight...had a nice time learning all our Christmas stuff, so a light supper when I got in.
I don't know if this makes me a miserable so and so but I've turned down a nomination for Miss Slinky....I hate these sort of things on a good day and tbh feel it's all a little contradictory- we keep getting told that it's our 'journey' but then with things like this it's a case of my journey's better than yours.
(Plus the fact we're having a taster session which I also hate but more importantly, OH and I are having a date day on Saturday.....told you I was being miserable didn't I)
Hoping tomorrow will see me in a better frame of mind
I think for me, it's different because my award is really a token gesture. Nobody won, and nobody lost, but for the ladies who attend my group, essentially one won, and the rest lost, so it does make it into a competition, which weight loss shouldn't be about.
However, I think it gives people the opportunity to feel good, at least for a short while. If I win it again next year having had no competition then I might withdraw myself to be honest, there's no point in awarding it by default to the same person lol0 -

That's my point entirely - added to which the person who should be awarded the title in my class (imo) won't as she hasn't been there for a number of weeks for various reasons but she has lost a staggering amount of weight in a relative short time.
I haven't gone running this morning but I will go swimming tonight (honest!) after walking the dog and I may even go running lunch time.
Not sure what the menu will look like today but have a good Friday everyone0 -
Well I think I must be the most miserable person ever!:rotfl:
While I'll vote and listen to be polite, there are loads of things about SW that don't do it for me and those competitions are one of them. I'm not a big fan of the taster sessions or the endless clapping and repetitive questions/comments either. I stayed to group yesterday as I had the time but I don't think I could cope with all that same old, same old every week. I envy those of you with consultants who can genuinely create discussion so that people can share tips like we do on here.:) My current consultant does it sometimes but the original one was really hopeless, nice but dim.:( For me SW is like some of the useless training courses I've been to at work where you learned more from other course members than from the presenter!:D
Will your DH be eating SW meals bozwood? Not sure why you can't have pasta whether he's at home or not? I really think planning (and enough Speed) is the key to success. One of my tasks today is to write my meal plan for the week and the shopping list to go with it. I only plan dinners in detail and then make sure I buy in enough ingredients for other meals as I generally choose them on the day. HTH.:)
The PON (and other) recipes for onion bhajis I've seen on line don't have anything synful in them denise. They're basically grated sweet potato, sliced onions, spices, seasoning and egg to bind. I'll give them a try and report back.:) Oh and would you post your carrot and coriander soup recipe, please.:)
I've got some mince out of the freezer so will put some Bolognese in the SC later. I like to keep up with the HM ready meals.
I'm going to have a syn free Friday which is very unusual for me as the weekend normally starts here, well at wine o'clock tis evening;). It won't be easy but I know it'll help me get rid of that half pound, and hopefully more.:)
I started reading the target member book, looking at the guidance to average weightloss over the last 8 weeks. My last 8 weeks before reaching target weren't typical. Partly because it was in holiday time so I yo-yoed (?) and averaged half a pound a week whereas from start to target I lost 1.5lbs a week on average. Also, the last few weeks to target can be incredibly slow for many people. I think what I read about getting back on plan 100% if you get close to the top end of range (while patently obvious!) is the most sensible thing I've read so far.
I'm assuming they brought the book out because many people get to target and then put the weight back on and they'd like to up their data on those that keep it off. My take is that those that regain the weight do it because they think of SW as a diet and can't weight to get back to eating 'normally' which is what made them fat to begin with!:(
Sorry for rambling, back to today.
Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, half HEB toast, baked beans, 2 fried eggs, HEA milk for drinks
L: JP with cottage cheese & pickleschicken stir fry with noodles
Syns: NONE!!:D0 -
Hello
Slimming world newbie, signed up a few weeks ago and should have reached half a stone loss by next week so very happy with my progress so far.
My diet's better than it has been for years but I'm not particularly enjoying the group/image therapy side of it so far.
Is it ok to leave straight after weighing in or do most people genuinely do better if they stay for the group?
I don't know if this is normal for a slimming world group or not but it seems that most people who stay, have gained rather than lost. At this weeks meeting, 14 out of the 16 people who stayed had gained!0 -
Well, the norm has been restored! STS. However, as I am only just back to feeling 100%, I am not that unhappy. Chose to eat what I felt like during the past week, when I felt like eating. While it was generally free, there was little to no speed, which just indicates the importance of speed.
Onwards & downwards this weekA smile costs little but creates much0 -
Welcome fairy lights to the thread. Don't think any of us actually like Image Therapy but you are likely to pick up some tips by staying. I think it's probably most helpful when you first start. There are people who just weigh and go but to be quite honest it seems very expensive. @ £4.95 a week to get weighed! I have to say I stay every week even though I started way back in July 2010 (apart from when I am on holiday which is quite often, LOL!).
GTQ glad you're feeling better now and are OK with an STS - as was I this week. I'm sure you'll lose this week now you can get back on plan with plenty of Speed.
Maman I don't really use a recipe for carrot & lentil soup! Just chop an onion and some garlic and fry off a bit in Frylight (I add a little water or stock when it starts to stick). Chop some carrots and chuck them in and add a bit more stock and cook for about 15 minutes to soften.
Throw in 2-3 handfuls of red lentils and cover with more stock. Cook for about 15 minutes or until the lentils are cooked and broken down. Leave to cool a bit and then blend until smooth. If it's too thick add a bit more stock or water. Reheat when ready to service. I don't usually season until I sit down to eat as the stock can sometimes be a bit salty. If you want it a bit spicy then add some cumin & coriander once the onions have softened a bit before adding any stock and then continue as above.
I like to make the soup in the morning and then reheat at lunchtime. I also usually make enough for another lunch and will either have it 2 or 3 days later or freeze it until later in the month.
I picked up some beef cheeks yesterday YS from Mr Ts and have trimmed and put some in the SC with some shallots, carrots & stock. That will be reheated tomorrow for dinner. Casseroles always taste better the day after it's cooked I think.
The rest of the checks have gone into the freezer for another day! Could put it all in the SC in one go as not enough room for both cheeks and the veg so rather than steaming the meat I'd rather cook it another day!
Can't usually get cheeks in Mr Ts but when I do see it it's always YS. Got it reduced from £7.76 something to £4.57. Never had it before but looking forward to it as chefs on TV always seem to rave about them! At that price I couldn't just leave them on the shelf!!!
Sorry for the essay:rotfl:.

Glad to hear you're feeling better gtq.:)
I agree completely that casseroles and things taste better after standing denise. I think they carry on marinating. I believe that even happens in the freezer! I'll probably have a taste of the Bolognese tonight, possibly keep a portion out for lunch tomorrow but all the rest will go in the freezer after it's stood overnight.
Thanks for the soup recipe. I think I might try it plain first before spicing it up.0 -
