*Enjoyed testing all sorts of perfumes & unguents while shopping so smelled rather gorgeous for free!......

"Unguents"! I've got visions of you imbibing a sample of a rather fine 1982 Duckham's Q5500 Super Lube!

  • Hi everyone :hello:
So much for sorting my sleep pattern - woke up just before 4am and couldn't get back to sleep so I've been up and about since 5am. I have dozed on the sofa for a bit here and there but I haven't done much else.
Yesterday was quite productive - I rescued a load of nearly rotten veggies from the fridge and cooked up a couple of cheap meals. I don't cook very often so it was quite good to get something done. Also finished the latest bits of Christmas crocheting and am now working on something for me (unless anything else comes to mind). Met my bestie for a coffee before I went tutoring as well so it felt like I got lots done.
Have a bit of the work dreads about going back in tomorrow - not sure why because I'm always ok in the end. Think it's because I had Friday off so I never know what to expect once I'm back in.
Anyway, the sun is shining and I've finally convinced ds to come for a little walk with me into town. We both need a bit more exercise and I think it'll help our moods considerably.
  • Hi guys :D late post for me as had a rare lay in then we all laid in bed reading, and hanging out. Oh now gone for a nap so me and madam loafing around.

Just took her down the street on her bike - we're trying to teach her to ride. It'll be a slow process as she's very risk adverse!

some chickpeas in the pc and when they are done I will make a spicy squash winter stew for my lunches over the next 3 days :D

Going to attempt cooking hand & spring in the the pc for tea. Will use up veg that needs using ;)

    knitting/reading/sewing for leisure :D

play some games in a bit. Maybe we'll go for a walk but depends how long oh needs to sleep!

yesterday I got a few xmas bits too. I'm almost done :D

    load of washing

think that's it :D Happy Sunday everyone

    Hi November Networkers,

Afternoon!:coffee: Day off after returning to nightshift! And what a nice day I'm having too.

    Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Four:

    * Check online banking. Done.

    * Check DW's online banking. Done.

    * Check loyalty points. Done. Ordered replacement loyalty key fob cards as mine are derelict and probably will stop working soon.

    * Lost a rubber ear bud off my headphones this morning. I always keep the spares that come in the packet. Find and replace. Done. Also found some spare coloured caps that go on house keys so you can tell similar keys apart. Replaced scruffy ones on my keyring.

    * Roast some butternut squash to make into soup while DW was making a roast dinner. Done.

    * Get some exercise. DW walked along the prom in the cold sunshine and I cycled 7.88km. Watched kite-flyer and windsurfers.

Things don't have to be perfect to be wonderful.

    Afternoon all,

Dmns, what is it you're cooking for tea?? Hand and spring has me

Lovely afternoon spent with the family.
My dad brought some of my date cake with him and we had it with white sauce as dessert, felt quite festive after our roast dinner!
I got ds1 to make a cheese sauce to go over the cauliflower and used up the last of the cheese I'd grated and frozen. Aware that I need him to be helping more with the cooking as he's growing up very quickly. (ds2 peeled the carrots)
Our chicken fed of us, plus 2 sandwiches for lunches tomorrow plus two portions of chicken & rice salad for dh's lunch the next two days, and the carcass is in the slowcooker with peelings and water to make stock for soup, am happy with that. Often when I used to cook a chicken it would be gone in the one meal.

Feet up now with a cuppa and watching an old bake off on netflix with dh.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

I had to Google it. Apparently "The hand and spring is the upper part of the pig's foreleg"

    I did not know that.

Hand and spring used to be a really cheap joint years ago (when we couldn't often afford a joint), but you don't see it that often these days, might be included in shoulder joints perhaps? I will ask the butcher when I am next in the shop!

Our butcher has some really good offers again this month, and I am considering stocking up, as no offers next month as it will be all Christmas stuff through December.... Will think about it and look at freezer space.

Not much MSE stuff today, went to a car boot / market this morning, only business funds spent apart from £8 on (loads of) bargainous bacon and veg.
Posted an ebay sale when I walked the dog this morning, just an envelope that could go in the post box

    Leftover soup for lunch
Cooked roast chicken with roasted potatoes, carrots and onions with steamed cabbage and gravy for early dinner / late lunch. Had some of DD1's brownies from the freezer for pudding, with ice cream. My brother came to eat with us. There is enough chicken left for chicken pesto pasta for OH and I tomorrow, and the bones are in the SC for stock, so not bad for a small chicken :)
    Loaf in BM

Put the heating on when we got back from the market as it was pouring with rain, but it is on thermostat and hasn't been on much. No need to light the stove tonight. It is supposed to be much milder this week than last, when we had some quite hard frost.
Better go and get that bread out!

yes it is. It's a cheaper cut of pork. Massive bit from the butchers for £8 (basically it's front leg 5.5lbs ). I'm trying it out in my pc. conventionally you slow cook it for 5.5 hours. In the pc it's 90 mins. Supposed to be lovely & tender when cooked long enough. I will report back!

I also got some shin (lamb) for another night. Have I mentioned how much I love my (free) pressure cooker???? :rotfl:

  • I thought that it may have some sort of porcine qualities as I knew that you could get a hand of pork (I would have called it a knuckle though??)
