Morning all :coffee:
Unexpected day off work today as ds is ill, and I don't have anyone else to look after him. The guilt is immense, but there really isn't anything I can do about it. He's really clingy at the moment and I'm quite upset seeing him physically and mentally unwell when there's nothing I can do.
However, a day off gives me time to think. This isn't always a good thing, but today it will be to plan the rest of the month financially and food wise.
Not sure what else I'll get up to but I'm very much playing it by ear.Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

On another note, as some of you may know, I'm a bit fond of a tipple and have been making a concerted effort to reduce my alcohol consumption.
I don't really like sweet drinks and have been trying various non-alcoholic wines and beers over the last few months. I can really recommend BrewDog's Nanny State (if you like hoppy ale).
I haven't found a low alcohol wine yet though as they are all too sweet.
Yesterday I tried the BrewDog Raspberry Blitz hoping that it would be like a Kriek. But to be honest it was just very watery. However, I have an inkling that if I mixed it with a non-alcoholic wine, it might make something interesting. I am going to try this today. Dizzy, sorry I don't know either.
Ccl, hope your ds is feeling more himself soon.
Clf, sounds like you had a lovely day.
We're home from our lovely little break, it was exactly what we needed. Lots of quality time together, lots of walking, fresh air, giggles and love
Everyone else is just finishing off getting ready so I thought I'd catch up on here. We are popping into town and to the supermarket.
Will be back with a list later xxxSticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Morning all

Thanks for the info on dashcams 1LL, he did buy one in that price range, but with the extra bits needed (multi plug adaptor thingy for cig lighter socket and memory card etc) it came to around £50 (there used to be a roll eyes smiley on here, and I could really do with it back if any of the forum team are reading :rotfl:)
Hope your son is better soon CCL
CLF I share your dislike of sweet drinks, but can't drink much alcohol any more. I only really like some types of white wine, and if I have some, limit myself to one or two tiny glasses, way smaller than a pub small measure. I agree re alcohol free wine, wish it was nice! On the rare occasions we go out for a drink these days I quite like a grapefruit and soda
My DD1 drinks Becks blue, but as I don't like beer no good for me unfortunately.
Having a relaxing kind of day as I am babysitting later  I have however:
Checked banks
Done a bit of cleaning up
Load of washing in
Listed a few things on ebay, should do more of this, but it is sooo boring
We have carrot and coriander soup made yesterday for lunch, I only need to check the seasoning and add a couple of tablespoons full of cream when I heat it up
Similarly, there is plenty of the sausage and chorizo stew I made yesterday left, so only need to heat it up and do some jacket potatoes. This will have to be delegated to OH, as I have to go to babysit at 4.30. Hopefully they won't be too long (taking GD to a bonfire party) as I shall be starving by the time I get back
Small spend planned today, as I want to go to the garden centre to see if they have any garlic in for planting
I rang the garden centre and they didn't have any, so ordered online - I did try to buy locally first
If they have, I shall spend time either this afternoon or tomorrow refreshing the compost in a couple of big pots with some of the stuff from the compost bins and planting it
I prepared the containers ready for when the garlic sets arrive, mixed compost out of my composter with used bought compost to avoid buying more - usually works ok
Got washing nearly dry on the line, must put it on the airer in a minute to finish off overnight
Back from babysitting now - I don't mind but it was an awkward time, from 4.30 - 8, so it was either have an early dinner or a late one. Opted for late, so just had it now, I was starving :rotfl:Baby GS was cute though, he came crawling out into the kitchen when he heard my voice and climbed up my leg
I fed him and got him ready for bed, gave him his bottle, there is something about sleepy cuddly babies :heart2: 0 -

Afternoon all,
Dawn, Glad your dh got sorted, I'd not thought about the extras (dh had those things already I think)
Just as we were about to leave this morning but dad rang to invite us for lunch which was nice
In town dh got the shoes he wanted and I picked up a pair for ds2 also as his have developed a small hole over last couple of days.
We called into the oxfam book shop and dh picked up another 2 Terry Pratchett books he had on his wish list.
Popped into the bank to order a debit card and cheque book on our joint account as I opened it originally for only using online but have changed our needs and often need a cheque for school trips etc
Went to CEX to buy the James Bond film Spectre on blu-ray for dh (we watched it last week but it was his mums copy which we've taken back to her when we visited) was going to buy it from the rainforest people 2nd hand for £4.24 but cex had it for £3.50
Ds2 also bought a 2nd hand game from there.
We had parked out of town rather then pay for parking. It was a nice little walk in the sunshine.
Tonight we're having a beef stew thats been in the slow cooker, smells lovely.
We've washed a load on the quick wash and they're on the radiators now drying.
Still need to check banking as I'd sort of forgotten it was a week day!!
Better go and do that now!
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Evening all!
Hope everyone is enjoying the start of the weekend!
End of a busy week here - hoping for a quieter weekend but unlikely given DDs social calendars! Not sure when their social lives became so much more exciting than my own!!
As for today’s tasks...
1. Small grocery shop for bits and bobs for weekend - came in under weekly budget :j
2. Radiators remain off (surprising even myself given the amount of ice on the car this morning!). Have instead had a lovely fire going this evening using wood sourced for free and girls have been put to bed with hot water bottles. I suspect heating will be on in the next few days but DH is really on a mission with energy saving this year, and as long as DDs aren’t complaining about the cold then he’ll insist they stay off!
3. Bought birthday presents for two of DDs friends whose parties they have been invited to. Got online at The Works (absolutely my favourite place for just this purpose) - 2 for £10, but also had £4.20 voucher from collected loyalty points, plus got £1.20 by going via TopCashBack :T. Total cost of just £4.60 for two presents. Pretty sure this is called winning at life! :j
4. Have started this year’s sealed pot challenge - already put in £19.72 over 2 days :T
5. Checked survey sites and cashed out another £10 from one.
6. Withdrawn £13.65 from coupon app to add to emergency fund.
Looks like lots of good saving now I’ve written it down! This time next year, we’ll be millionaires! :rotfl:Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.

Greetings Friday Night Frugalistas,
Am trying hard to get back to normal, so today I have:
*Cleaned the house using minimal products & washable cloths.
*Changed towels & household linens & put in washer ready for Economy 7 tariff laundry.
*Tweaked next week's meal plan & wrote shopping list.
*Updated Christmas present planner in my bullet diary.
*Baked a sourdough loaf.
*Traded a box full.of old music scores to Ziffit.
*Sold another item on ebay (3rd one this week).
*Unblocked bathroom basin. Took a while but it was the free option.
In addition, mr f has dropped my previous Ziffit trade off at collection point, gone to collect the hire car we are being lent for free due to the garage being unable to fix our naughty car & he is now making a packed lunch for our city centre trip tomorrow so as to avoid lunchtime spendyness.
I'm by the fire with snoring cat & my knitting.
Cheers,

Morning guys
I forgot to turn off my alarm so got woken up at 6
Might make the most of it and do some knitting in a minute
almost at turning the heel
madam has swimming first thing then is off out with dd until after lunch. I'm debating whether to go to the allotment for an hour. Think I should as not sure when I'll be able to next...
will do a load of washing and hang out as looks fairly nice day for this time of year. Will need to go on the airer for a few hours.
just bought a Christmas gift. Only have a couple more to get now
It does make it easier that we only get for a couple of people and we don't go in for a big consumer event.
I need to take in a dress I bought for a funeral I'm going to next week. Will try it on and mark it out today
meet a friend for lunch and drinks. Haven't seen her for ages so really looking forward to catching up and all the laughing
All meals from stores - need to look at meal plan and see what's in
continue reading book. Think I'll float with oh playing a game tonight.
Ok that's all I think I'll do today. Happy Saturday guysDF as at 30/12/16
