    Hi Ian,

I'm just finishing the first year of a 2 year plumbing NVQ/Technical Certificate at night school. The problem i have is all i'm doing at the moment is what i do at college. I really need some practical experience "on the job" but dont know how to get it is im not sure im confident enough to advertise my services alone and can only do weekends and certain evenings as i work full time at the moment.

Any suggestions on how i can start building up my experience.

Anyone in Leeds/Bradford area who can offer assistance it would be much appreciated!

    Thanks

    Nick

Could you give me an idea about the cost i should expect to pay for replacing a bath with a new batch (steel) & installing a shower with a thermostat plus the fitting of approx 20 tiles - the work could involve removing the sink in order to get to the bath - bath & shower will have already been provided

    Dear plumb1

When the toilet is flushed, the handle stays in the 'down' position and has to be pulled back up. The toilet is 10 years old.

Is it anything to worry about?

Thank you for helping us with our plumbing problems.

    Dear plumb1,

We have a 3 bed semi detached house, heating wise we have 8 rads and our boiler is an old Potterton Netaheat 10-16.
The problem we have is that the when the boiler is on the ignition constantly keeps firing, even though the pilot light is lit.
Is this dangerous? As everything works fine, rads and hot water.
We have been advised by a friend that parts for this old boiler are going to be hard to find and we are best off changing it to a new combi boiler. Would you agree? and if so could you recommend a combi boiler for my size house, would a 24kW be enough?

    Many thanks,

    Kevin

This should be enough for the central heating side of things, however, I would be inclined to go for a 28kW boiler which will increase the hot water flow rate considerably.

If you plan to have your shower off the boiler, then definitely go for the 28kW.
