  • Is there any reason why I should not use the same waste pipe for both the washing machine, which I have, and for the dishwasher I am about to buy.

  • i have a shower head that continually drips no matter how tight i twist the tap,how do i cure this?
  • Hi There,

In my downstairs loo i have a small sink. About 3-4 weeks ago i noticed a leak from the pipes under the sink. It was a small one and i didn't think much of it at first, but thought i'd monitor it by seeing how much water would be collected in container. In a week, it was overflowing.

As i have plumbing insurance with British Gas i duly phoned and they sent someone round to investigate. The plumber looked at it and said that it was the tap mechanism that was leaking and since British Gas didn't cover taps there was nothing he could do.

I thought long and hard about what he said and decided to get a second opinion. A local handyman came round, looked at the pipes, and although didn't see the leak said that the pipes under the sink qualify as pipes and not taps. I therefore called British Gas again and they again sent someone round. Again, this person did not see the leak and therefore didn't bother doing anything and left.

I am at my wits end on this one. There is a leak and it is from a pipe. What do i do?

I sympathise with your problem here, but you have had two people in who haven't been able to find this leak.

I wonder if the leak could be coming from around the taps, splashes on the basin that leak under the taps and down the pipes. This would make you think the pipes were leaking.
If you hadn't used the basin for a while, it might explain why everything was dry when the plumbers came.

    It's just a thought. !
