  • Thanks Umkomaas. At the site you kindly provided a link to it says:

"Everyone gets one of these. Write back to the parking company and refute their allegations and invite them to make their claim in court where they will be asked to produce a contract with the site owners to demonstrate their claims are valid. We do not recommend a second appeal to the IAS as it is seen as wholly biased against in favour of the parking companies who pay their fees."

Is there another standard letter template I can use for this with appropriately 'legal' language?

The advice here is once you appeal to an IPC company and get the expected rejection you ignore them.

See the newbies FAQ thread #4 for advice on debt collectors.

If you get a lbcca or Court correspondence then come back for advice on how to defend this at the time

They have 6 years to start legal proceedings against you
  • An update, 2 years ish later.  I got a 'notice of debt recovery' letter and a 'legal recovery action' letter early last year and duly ignored as per advice. Recently I received a 'Letter of Claim'.  Per forum advice I have emailed Premier Parking Logistics with a SAR. They replied requesting my driving license as ID but since this is photographic ID I declined, instead sending some other ID.  I emailed DCB Legal as per advice, re seeking debt advice and about the SAR.  It seems this thing will rumble on - and it still leaves a heavy weight in my stomach. But I'm grateful for the support of this forum and hope it will continue if this goes any further.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, sometimes it can lead to cancellation.,

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers. On 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, and hopefully this will become law shortly

You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Exactly the same as a dozen other threads.  Times must be hard for Walton Wilkins!

  • Hope I haven't messed things up but in the light of the legislation going through I thought I'd also write to my MP about this.  He now says he has contacted PPL about this.  My only slight concern is that in my email to him I described all that had happened on the day in Q, whereas in my correspondence with PPL to date I have made no admission of being present on the occasion of the fine.  Hope it doesn't affect anything...

He should not have disclosed the details, but you made a mistake giving too much info away
Do you know if the pPC met POFA2012 requirements to hold the keepr liable? I Would hope so.
  • I am not familiar with the detail of those requirements, but having done a quick google, I think it met most of them.  The original notice doesn't include the "period the car was parked" it only mentioned a specific point in time at which the driver became liable.  That is, to my mind, q significant.  Since the vehicle in question was only parked there for about 3 minutes.
