    Good Morning

The beginning of my week of birthday celebrations start later, when I see a friend for coffee in town. It all really starts tomorrow. It's going to be an expensive week, but hey, you only turn 24 once!:D

Still collecting in my sponsor money for the fire walk. I feel bad asking people to pay up, but I know if I don't they won't.

Feeling good and very positive still. So excited about London on Friday, you'd think I was going to be 4 tomorrow the way I'm acting!!!!:rotfl:

    Hope everyone's ok

Hi there. Just dispatched DH off after helping him put the new roof rack on his 4x4 and tying his ladder on to it. Bit chilly out there but I wrapped up properly and it was lovely coming back into the warmth. BM and WM on, ironing board is up and HIM (Gifts for Men) brochure opened and order half written out. One of DH's brothers has just had a couple of tattoos done (he's 53 so there has been a lot of family mickey-taking); in the HIM brochure, I've found some long sleeves that look like heavily-tattooed arms - £7.50 a pair. They look really effective so we are getting him a pair for Christmas. We only ever do 'jokey' presents and it gets harder each year, so these are ideal.

I need to clean the bathroom, hang the washing up on the airer or the line - can't decide which, yet. It looks like another lovely day even if it is cold.

MRSMCAWBER - well done on not spending any money on food. It's surprising what you can find to live on without spending, isn't it? Every now and again I do a 'freezer-and-store-cupboard' challenge for about two weeks and it saves a lot of money.

PAM - I hope you manage to get a doze later.

JANNYANNIE - well done on finishing your essay. Good luck with it. Enjoy your shopping today - hope you find lots of bargains!

Well, off to clean the bathroom (yippee) so see you all later.

  • Morning Guys!

Hospital visit didnt go too well yesterday and have another this afternoon. I am getting preety fed up with all these needles and the same pointless questions!

Anyway, enough of that depressing talk:D

OH is mending a shelf in the kitchen which broke yesterday breaking one of my decent oven to table dishes:mad: ....I can hear alot of swearing and panting, so I assume its not going to well:confused::D

WM & DW just about to go on. My young lady helper couldnt come yesterday as she had a tummy bug. Have text her to say I hope she is feeling better but not to come back today if still rough. I really dont need anything else to go wrong with me.

DD just tarting herself up for school:rolleyes:

I am going to try and do some reading on my course today as I have an essay due the 14th November:eek:    .....this is a level 2, so dont even have a dummy run for the first TMA:eek:

We booked a holiday to the same place we went last year in Cornwall. £149 for a week in a decent caravan through the Easter holiday. Have also seen a cottage rental near Paris for £188 for the week and will decide in the next 2 days.

    Right, better go.

    Hugs to all.

I am still reeling from Churchmouse's revelations yesterday. In case you missed it she took it upon herself to announce that fan assisted ovens can only cope with very small sized bakeware. OMG all these years...around 10...that I've had a fan oven and I never knew that!!! This of course means that I need to get shopping for new tins. And every recipe ever written which includes a note on the size of the tin is wrong. They never ever say what size tin to use in a fan oven!!! What is a girl to do? Shez, I hope you are with me on this and the devestating consequences of Churchie's secrets.

Well, I don't know what this about, but I've baked in 4 different fan ovens over the last 14 years and I've never come across that information before  -mind you I don't read instruction books ;) I use the biggest bakeware I can lay my hands on as I tend to imagine I'm preparing for a siege when I bake :D My current favourites are my huge American style baking sheets that barely fit across the oven shelves. I have never had any problems with my baking. So don't worry Snowy ;)

Well, plans today are to make blackberry and apple muffins and flapjacks for school. Then I'm taking my Harry Potter CDs upstairs along with several bin liners to tackle the chaos that is my daughter's bedroom. She is 7 and any ideas on how to get her to tidy up after herself would be welcome -her brothers are nowhere near as bad. I keep finding screwed up clothes shoved down the side of her bed as it is clearly easier for her to put them there rather than open her drawer:rolleyes: She claims she has lost various items that I know are in her room (which is the smallest in the house).

I must get on with the porridge for the thriftlings -I might have some yogurt if it has cooled (just switched the yog-maker off) with damson puree.

Lunch for the thriftlings is cheese in baguttes, apples, clementines and banana-choc-chip muffins.
I'm having the baguette I made for OH 'cos he doesn't need lunch today.

Supper will be sausage and lentil casserole which I can leave in the oven while I take Dd swimming at the hugely inconvenient time of 5.30.

    Morning all.

I don't normally post on these threads as they are so long by the time I get to read them, but thought I would pop in this morning.

The focus for me today is house cleaning:eek: Having been laid up for a week or so, everywhere looks like a bomb has hit. We have three floors, so yesterday the bottom floor was blitzed and I now have a nice clean kitchen. I'm going to tackle the middle floor today and the top tomorrow, before concentrating on cupboards:eek: .

DDs have just got over a sore throat and I think their germs have flew my way, as I have that distinct dry tickle feeling.

Have done the ironing already this morning and the WM is nearing the end so that's another two jobs off the list.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning all - dd is missing breakfst club this morning to have a little lie in. We went to see a radio 3 recording of Elgar's Starlight Express. This is part of my oh-so-subtle campaign to show her that there is life outside dr who. It had that nice simon callow in it ..... did you know he's been in dr who - no neither did I till last night. Anyway it was my second and her first classical thingy and we thoroughly enjoyed it although dd thought it was a bit spoiled by the "operary" singing - I hope Bargain Rzl doesn't hear that :) this was very OS as the tickets were free and tea was chips on the way home

Anyway dd has been chosen to represent the school in cross country running at the end of the month and i have been given a training plan for her - i think it's going to mostly involve her running after me while i cycle slowly along - don't want to do myself a mischeif now do I?
    have a good day

    Morning all,

Had to pick DD up from school yesturday afternoon as she was being sick, she slept until late in the evening and has been fine thought out the night so keeping fingers crossed if I keep her home today it will be back to normal tomorrow.

First real frost this morning, DH had to scrape the ice off the car which wasn't much fun at 6am.
Ordered & paid for the christmas meat at the butchers yesturdays, Turkey crown £25.00 and Ham joint £12.00 so thats out of the way, haven't made the christmas cake yet, need to get my act together and get that sorted ASAP.

Hope everyones safe & well after the bonfire celebrations,

    Catch u laters, take care

    Good morning everyone,

(((HUGS))) all round today (will read the thread later, when i have some time!!)

Just waiting for the first LO to get here - have 2 today and im attempting to take them to Waitrose after dropping the children off at school, as i need milk - the thought of an 18 month old and a 7 month old and not being able to have a cup of tea isnt a good thought, so we will have to attempt the shop!!!

Nothing much else happening - will be making chicken stew for dinner tinight in the SC, and thats about it really - will enter some more comps as well, im hoping i will be on a winning streak (still no word on the laptop yet tho).

Anyway, hope everyone has a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    morning everyone,

work has settled down a bit now, just before the christmas rush starts so i am taking advantage and having a few days of getting other things done.

cant decide wether to do HM pizza for dinner or sausages/mash/onion gravy, i think im in need of some veg so i will probably opt for the latter.

might make a crumble for pudding...with custard yum!

i have a bit of tidying to do and ironing (if i can make myself do it lol) paperwork needs a sort too.

im thinking it might be a day of odd jobs and stuff.

its a lovely sunny and fresh morning here and i have just opened all the upstairs windows to air the house, should be a good day for washing on the line too!

ooh and i need to bake a loaf! off now to catch up on some of the threads ive missed.

    have a good day everyone
