OS daily, Tuesday 6th November 2007

This is the Old Style diary for Tuesday 6th November 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
Morning everyone
Gosh, it has been absolute yonks since I started the daily. It's almost odd to be doing the honours again.
I am still reeling from Churchmouse's revelations yesterday. In case you missed it she took it upon herself to announce that fan assisted ovens can only cope with very small sized bakeware. OMG all these years...around 10...that I've had a fan oven and I never knew that!!! This of course means that I need to get shopping for new tins. And every recipe ever written which includes a note on the size of the tin is wrong. They never ever say what size tin to use in a fan oven!!! What is a girl to do? Shez, I hope you are with me on this and the devestating consequences of Churchie's secrets.
(BTW I really meant it when I said I'd be writing lots of drivel on the daily, lol:rotfl:)
Today is a late shift at w*rk today, don't start until 12.30 pm, so in theory I am going to get lots of housework done this morning. In reality I expect I will go back to bed and read more of Fanny Cradock's biography, have another snooze, have a 2nd breakfast, doddle about looking on the internet, then rush around and be late for w*rk.
I hope everyone is well and happy this morning. Have a fabulous Tuesday.

Good morning SNOWY and all who follow. I kept waking up from 3am onwards and finally gave up trying to sleep at about 4.30 - no doubt I'll be longing for a doze by midday.
Plan today is to get the ironing finished and do some filing - paperwork is never-ending these days. I think I've finished it and then the postman calls and I end up with loads more!
DGS is coming for dinner after school and then I'm taking him home and will babysit him and DGD while DS1 and DIL attend open evening at their school. They'll want me to bath them and then, hopefully, there will be time for a game of something. I'm taking my camera - I like to take photos of them throughout the year which I don't show their Mum and Dad until I put them in a new album as a Christmas present. It's become a tradition now so I need to take a few more to build up the collection. I also make another album up for my Mum, so I must get the last few pictures organised.
I need to get DH up at 6 this morning; he's bought a new roof rack - he needs it for work to carry his ladders - and I am being seconded into helping him put it on the vehicle. He spent last night putting it all together. I'll need to wrap up warm because it's cold outside! He nearly bought the roof rack in Halfords but couldn't bring himself to pay £100 - he found one at our local auto spares shop for £40 which looks just as good.
Well, think I'll try and visit the gym today; I've missed five weeks already because I haven't been well. I think I might manage one circuit of the equipment - I'll see how I get on. Well, must have a shower before I wake DH up so see you all later. Hope everyone has a lovely day and (((Hugs))) to all in need.

Morning all
Been up since 4am, essay is finished. Shall post it after dropping our son a t school. Then plan to go and spend my birthady money on some new clothes I desperately need. It's breezy and cold here.
Went to a lovely fireworks display last night by the sea. Managed to avoid all the assorted tatt that came with it that was being sold at an extortionate price.
Plan to get some sleep later as I am on nights now. I love my nights, it really gives me space to think and there's something comforting about going to bed during the day.
Have a good day everyone and I probably won't speak to you again until Friday.

Morning Snowy, Mioliere, Mrs Mix, those who sneak in whilst i am tapping away and those who follow....phew..
Bit of a cool day here today, I have parcelled Mr Twit off to work, hence the reason I am up and about quite so early.
I need to pop into Sainsbugs for some of their value/basics soap powder for work, I will get Miss Twit moving and we can call on the way to school, cheer her up no end :rotfl:
Then I am off to the Trafford Centre with mum.
Just going for a browse round really, apart from token gifts, we only buy for my daughter, as we used to spend Christmas day swapping clothes....gosh that sounds dodgy.....should I clarify by saying, i would buy trousers for my dad and uncle, they would buy trousers for Mr Twit and on it went.
Hugs to those who would like them....I hope Pen Pin has a better day and that yesterday at the hospital was not too bad....I will go and catch up on yesterdays news soon.
Love to all....the Twit.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
Morning. Fireworks day is over and I must say that the school display down the road was carp this year. Far too many small ground fireworks... I will go elsewhere next year.
Glad to get home and sit by the fire and watch Simpsons.
Cooked up some great pork and apple sausages and sat there eating them in the warm.
Work today, plenty going on and I think I am catching up.
Hope you are all well....

Morning all
Packed hubby off with a flask full of pork, veg and barley casserole and some HMbread...that should keep him warm;)
Im waiting to see if the weather is going to hold off..if so i'm going to have a wander to a supermarket i spotted the other day.... woohoo somewhere that looks like a walkable distance :j ... that will be great.... i can get out, get some fresh air..and burn some extra cals:p . Im hoping to get some more stuff for my hampers :j .... yesterday evening i got some bargains :-
a bottle of organic cherry wine for £1.50, a 3lt box of wine (but shaped like a mini barrel)..for £3, and when checking my receipts got a really nice surprise... hubby loves Paderborner beer - far too many years spent in Germany... well we found some yesterday..in glass bottles.most goes into cans now..not the same according to hubby - anyway when i looked.. we had paid 30c a bottle - about 22p  cheaper than water...so guess where we are going tomorrow night??? to clear them out :rotfl:
Hubby is bowling tonight..so i will tag along and go to the supermarket underneath as usual..... trying to get all these hampers done and dusted...
So for dinner tonight its tatties n onions in the oven..will put HM sausages with hubbies and make a new loaf of bread.... still haven't spent 1 single cent of this months food budget yet :j ...determined to use up that stuff i made for the freezer
well hugs to all those in need..hope we all have a good day:D-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

Not so cold here this morning, but still chilly, lets hope they get the heating working at school today.
I was given a double duvet last week, nearly new, so am taking it to DD's today as they don't have heating in their bedroom.
I need to get some more green wool tonight as I have orders for more green scarves, couldn't get it last night as I had to collect hubby early.
Pork chops in spicy marinade for tea tonight with pots & cabbage.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone
Slept until 7.40 whoo! :T Strange I have been having problems with my eyes running and going a bit blurred over last couple of days, but put it down to suncream!;)
Very quiet around here last night, saw the top of one display from our solarium, and heard about 6 fireworks going off around 11.30 pm. Stayed in last night with our friends, raided freezer for some thin steak, and frozen Cumberland sausages, the steak courtesy of Lidl, Jacket Spuds and frozen peas and running beans, followed by fresh pineapple, with a glass of Rioja of course
Will decide what we are doing going to do today once everyone is awake.
(((((((((hugs))))))))))))) all round. Take care all

Morning
Donny-gal, did you have to mention suncream - think DH has just had to scrape the ice off his car before leaving
Trying not to hit the shops today, I spend far too much on food, so have taken a gammon joint out of the freezer and will put that in the slow cooker and have chips and beans with it later.
Hope everyone has a good day xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
