What small DFW things will you do w/c 15th October?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning folks!
Thanks to DNMS for starting us off. I haven't caught up with last week's thread yet but I will soon. Big hugs to all xxx
ED: DNMS - def get to the docs, that fainting spell sounds scary
CCL - big hugs. Is there any chance that you can take a couple of days off and rest? That Feeling rough bug sounds like what I had last week. Felt really tired, kinda sick and just wrung out.
1LL - are you feeling better?
And hugs to all the other poorlies xxx
A fairly MSE weekend considering I was away. Dinners were at my friend's. Minimal food/coffee spends (2 sandwiches, 1 coffee and 1 tea). Remembered my water bottle! Generally had a very nice time. Slight edge taken off of it by a £750 car bill but these things were sent to try us.
Some incoming monies. Friend paid me back the money for the pottery workshop we went to. Had my hair done and it was £50 cheaper than expected. also expecting the insurance payment from when OH's equipment blew up at a gig a few months back. All these payments were already reconciled so the money back is a bonus!
Today's mission:- B/L/D from stores - done
- Gym at lunchtime - only got half way through my bits but pb'd my push press at 45kg
- Heating still off
- Charge phone in work - done
- Try to be frugal with elec - might scope out the LED bulbs in B&M on the way home..
- Reconcile budget sheet
- Bit of a tidy round - done
- Knit sock if not too tired
- No sugary stuff - done
- No alcohol - done
- Emptied the little dehumidifier into the collection bucket - done
- Strip wash instead of shower - done
- Am going to check out this Asda card - essentially it's £6 for free. Not a lot but something. We shop in Asda anyway so I was thinking of just putting the monthly food budget onto it and getting the free money! I guess technically I could get more than one? I wonder when it would expire? https://cards.asda.com/card/ChristmasSaving
Have a good one all

Morning all
Thanks for starting us off DNMS, hope you are ok today.
Up early due to coughing but made the most of it and got a few little bits done already:
About 2 tablespoons of leftover apple and quince pie filling from yesterday used up for breakfast fruit
Checked banks, weekend spends not showing up yet
Worked on shopping list - final checks needed on larder!
Plans for today:
Go to sales unit if cough settles down It sounds awful, but nobody else is going to get it, as it is just my asthma making the most of the cold I had last week
Need to do a shop - Aldi is my fav at the moment! If I can't get everything on my list, will need to go to Sains as well.
Post RM surveys item
Got some YS TTD burgers out of freezer, along with HM tomato sauce. Idea is to make the burgers into meatballs (burgers are cheaper than actual meatballs for some reason, and doing this is far less faff than making them ) I don't use those cheap burgers that look like something scraped off the bottom of your shoe though!
Soup for lunch, and apple and quince pie, plus a few scones, available for pudding / treats for the next couple of days
Do some cleaning later if I feel ok
Raining again, so need to put the washing on the airer
Write to aunt (MUST do this!)
Hopefully I will get a bit more done than this rather unimpressive list indicates!0 -
Morning all :hello: thanks for starting us off determined
CLF ouch to that car bill, glad you had a nice weekend though
Dawn hope the cough improves
Raining buckets here too, so some washing will go on the airer so I can keep on top of it. Seriously contemplating a heated airer as I have done for the last few years. Hmm.
My list of today:
Check banks, update sheet
Leftovers for tea
Reconcile just for points cc
Work from home, shame I need to put the light on to see my work :rotfl:
Men coming to work on the house :T will pay them from house savings
Research some more activities later for holibobs next week. Have some mr t vouchers so work out the best place to use those.
Vacuum through
Have a good day folks. Purps.0 -
Morning guys Set us up and went for a walk with pup. Realised lead training is easier if there's only one person there! Walk later on will go to an area where he can run around and chase a ball with only a little bit of lead walking so as not to frustrate him!
We're going to go swimming (using membership so no cash outlay) and it's a lovely little pool and will probably just be me and madam there Done
Also going to make muffins with madam so that and walk will be our activities for today - all no cash outlay needed :money: didn't do this as madam had a mega crafting session this morning instead. Gave her 1/2 a bread roll from freezer with peanut butter and jam and some raisins for a snakc instead :money:
I'm going to limit my time online today. Every time I think I've got time to be online I will either do some knitting of my sock or do some of my quilt Done :j (just having 5 mins now before preparing dinner
As well those:
[STRIKE]* purchase ins I got quote for the other day[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* load of washing & hang out[/STRIKE]
* making pinto beans and lo gammon for dinner in pressure cooker I actually love my pc! Still getting used to the timings so things don't get overcooked but really happy with this free addition to the household :T
* sort out library books
[STRIKE]* hopefully getting travel crate for pup today [/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* tidy up/clean[/STRIKE]
* watched a youtube tutorial on making a quilt out of lo scraps of fabric :T will be next project :money:
* cook up some apples so they don't go to waste and freeze
* triage fridge
* meeting up with bff tonight. Have suggested a walk :money:
Also booked dentist for me and opticians for madam
Ok that'll do for now. Hope you're all well xDF as at 30/12/16

Hi all :hello:
Thanks DNMS for the new thread! What variety of pup do you have btw?
CLF woop woop well done on your pb!!! :j
Didn't post over the weekend but was reasonably MSE:
- OH's car has been repaired and it was paid for by the dealer :money:
- Had to do some additional washing machine fiddling unfortunately, but looked ok after I'd done all the washing yesterday so here's hoping that's the last of it!
- Went into town to meet a friend for coffee and a wander, parked in the cheaper car park near m&s and took my returns back in person - they refunded the delivery too! So very pleased with that indeed. Parking, coffee for two and an anniversary card came to £9.29 total and staved off the madness which would have set in had I spent the entire weekend watching doctor who and staring at the washing machine. A sonic screwdriver would have been quite helpful I think...
Today:
- bike to work am
- continue quest for dog cover
- food shop for OH coming home tomorrow :j (STICK TO THE LIST)
- walk dog
- hoover round & wipe round bathroom etc
- next online study topic
- phone garage to check progress of my car
Hope everyone is having a good day0
