  • Quite a lot of the youtubers I watch use this thing called Citristrip, which apparently is not the most evil of things. However, I don't know how effective it is or whether it is in fact available in the UK because all these youtubers are canadian or american!

Keep going, you're going brilliantly. Home is important. Also yay for your other half! So happy to hear she's feeling a bit more well.
  • Ooh thank you @killerpeaty I will check it out! Incidentally, we have just had a total nightmare shipping something from the US. So DD is desperate for Trixie's latest lipstick. OH lived in the US and has a few dollars left with a former housemate. Said former housemate kindly offers to buy the lipstick ($20 ish) and ship it for DD's b'day. Wait for it: $120!!! She decides to pay that to help OH earn major step-mum points but then UPS charges us £22 on the doorstep for customs because import taxes are apparently charged on the value INCLUDING SHIPPING! So we're effectively being charged for importing a $140 item  What a scam. All for this $20 lipstick. Having said that, when I've ordered online direct from a US seller, it's generally been fine - we were just super unlucky.

  • So I don't wear makeup, but I feel like $140 is absolutely massive for one little lipstick?! :grimace:
  • @killerpeaty yes it absolutely is *shrieky blue head emoji* and for a $20 lipstick even more! We are chalking this up to some bad luck and an overenthusiastic friend whose heart was in the right place but didn't engage brain when told the shipping cost!

Got my closing statement from T0nik and I have just over £115 in credit to come back to me in the next few days (not bad for lockdown) and they've kept their promise of not levying exit fees :)

TGTG bag was a good 'un today, despite a glitch in the app almost denying me the goodies. Whole sourdough loaf, baguette, cruffin (personal favourite) and a mystery savoury bun thing :) Worth the sweaty cycle to get it!

  • Love the TGTG app, got two Yo Sushi ones today as a treat and theres enough in there for lunch for tomorrow and Friday :-) Enjoy the cruffin, you earned it with the cycle!
Current mortgage (1 Jun 2022): £289,501 - originally £351,999 got to love London sized mortgages!
    OP Goal 2022 = 3.75% in OPs: £6,975 / £13,200
Emergency Fund Target: 3 months saved ✅

  • OK, what's a cruffin?

I've had to give up on Too Good To Go for the minute, the only place ever offering anything round my way was a pub doing roasts - not so useful when you're a veggie 😥! Yes, I could give the meat to BF (who would have been seriously bemused), but that would leave me paying £3.29 for some roast veg 😮 Am going to give it another go in 6 months or so
    Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed

Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!
  • I've not tried TGTG, I've really fallen out with small wins. I should get back into it.

I looked up Cruffins and they're apparently a mix between croissant and a muffin, no idea how but I want to try!

If you have a Toby Carvery you can opt for a veg bag or a meat one (that comes with veg too) - veg bag is £1 cheaper (£2.29). I always think that’sa great idea, but have yet to try it.

The cruffin at our bakery is filled with creme patissiere and is just A-MAZ-ING. So far my favourites have been pear and caramel (great combo) and raspberry. Yesterday's was apple. They're not greasy or heavy at all and so practically a health food (one of my 5 a day?)

CC cut off today. It's actually not as bad as I thought (£710/£689) so no need for self-flagellation! Pr0lific has ticked over to exactly a fiver, so will cash that out too.

DD has the squits this morning so we have to keep her off school for 48 hours :unamused: She's just got back after months and is finally feeling settled in new school with awesome new teacher. But we totally understand why the rule's there. No school til Monday and she'll go back 11. 11 is a HUGE DEAL and she's making sure we all know it

The cruffins sound amazing, although the second part of your news did put me off slightly! Hope DD is feeling better in time for her birthday celebrations!
