Dollardog, the above video, 38 second-ish mark where he sticks two fingers in to remove the ram and dislodges GENTLY the metal locking leavers that hold the ram in place - do not be over enthusiastic and break them off, or bend them. Easily does it.

Actually never seen anyone bend them, but have been asked a few times how to put them back after breaking them off :(

Thank you, did not have a problem with them. My only problem was getting the screw out to get to it!!
Had a duff screwdriver, the handle was turning but not the screw, solved when my neighbour got a pair of pliers to hold the blade to turn it.

EveryWhere - the new memory is in now and I checked that it is now saying 6GB ram in the system properties, the links are downloaded but haven't burnt them to disc yet. Just waiting for the new drive and caddy for old one now.

Get on with it; https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd451080.aspx :) You still have another step to undertake with the Windows 10 media, once created, before any attempt at installation.

    Cleared some space.

So first of all we'll install Windows 7 Professional(or Ultimate) to the SSD. To do so, simply plug the Windows 7 USB Flash drive into the Toshiba. If it is already on, restart the laptop and press and hold the F12 key as soon as it restarts. If it is off, press the Power button and press and hold F12 immediately after you do so.
The Boot Menu should appear, allowing you to scroll up/down to choose to Boot from the already inserted USB Flash Drive media.

Then just go through the motions of installation, choosing Professional or Ultimate, as is your wont.

You might want to keep these files handy; Wireless LAN, 7-Zip & Opera Browser so that you can get back online asap in order to follow up.

I'm sure you'll be impressed with how much better it is.

At that point, we can decide if you want to stick with Windows 7, installing missing Drivers manually or moving over to Windows 10 Pro.

    See you soon.

Do you have to start with Windows 7 or can you go ahead and install Win 10 Pro from Win 10 Home?

I am unsure if 10 recognises the win 7 key?

the better way of doing it is to install wind 10 straight, rather than have historical remnant lurkers around. 10 Automatically recognises ssd, where 7 you have to fiddle.

If you already have 10 Home, you can install 10 Pro if you have a key.

But on this thread they is taking the free upgrade path.

Though they seem to have disappeared....

Windows 7 should also see the SSD....
