My laptop is getting very slow. Every time win 10 does an update it seems to screw things up.
This time Chrome and Firefox are both in conflict with Kaspersky total security.
It's telling me to update or uninstall Kaspersky which I am not going to do. Kaspersky is completely up to date.
I am going to uninstall then reinstall Chrome and Firefox to see if that helps but although I don't want to change my laptop, think I might end yo doing so as it's about 7/8 years old.
If I changed it, I am worried that I might lose some of the programs I need as I don't have the discs to reinstall them. Things such as Office and Microsoft autoroute.
Will I be able to do that. I have got a back up on a External hard disc.

you dont need kasperski uninstall it and use the inbuilt windows defender. you can refresh windows and keep your applications and data. check startup see what junk is starting at power up. run disk cleanup to free up disk space. check how much memory you have installed maybe buy a new module. if the laptop hdd is accessible consider swapping your hdd for a ssd.

Do you have SSD or HDD? Product keys for AutoRoute? Which editions? Model number of PC?

Hdd. Toshiba L500 - 1xc. No prod keys for auto route or office. Office is 2007 and Autoroute 2010. They don't do autoroute now but it is invaluable to me for optimising routes. I have tried others but don't work as well.

They're quite good in W10. Although Kaspersky should be fine, zap it for the time being. What version of W10 do you have? (type winver in cortana/search). Answer Everywhere's questions...
EDIT: I meant to say that all Microsoft product keys should come up if you run Belarc.

You can run a program like Produkey to extract the keys of installed software (not sure if it does autoroute).

That model number looks familiar ;)

Definitely worth fitting an SSD to the device. For as little as £20. Here
You can put the old HDD into a £4 caddy.

    A five minute job to swap the drive;

Make sure that you have at least 4GB of RAM onboard. 2 GB module here So as little as £1.50 to take it to 4GB.

    4GB module for £8

Then one can clean install Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Not an issue to reinstall Office. Don't know anything about AutoRoute.

Those upgrades will improve things considerably.
