I'll order the top lite-on on your last post then. 120Gb is far more than I have now so bound to be enough

    ?? You should have 320GB now. :)
Anyway all of your data will be on the 320GB HDD, which will then be a 320GB external storage drive after being fitted to the caddy. Another job that literally takes a minute.

The SSD will be a fresh start. It will make a much bigger difference than fitting extra RAM. The combination of both will impress you.

On the keyboard, press and hold the Flying Windows key and whilst holding it down, press the Pause Break key.
    What should that have done?
Didn't do anything but perhaps because it's doing a back up?

It should open a window with all of the relevant details.

Are you sure that you are doing it properly?

The slow moving nightmare will soon end. :)

It's supposed to be doing a back up onto an external drive but I'm not sure it is.
It says - size of back up 0 bytes then it says it's backing up my data but if it's 0 bytes there's nothing for it to back up?
it came up with a list of all the files it said it was going to back up.
It's doing something but not sure what

When you get the SSD we'll install Windows 7 Professional first, so that you can then install Windows 10 Pro. It gives you more control over the operating system.

You can get the DVDs ready for then.

    Win10_1803_EnglishInternational_x64.iso

    Download and save.

Toshiba Windows 7 image in your inbox

Get a couple of blank DVD ready.

    Bedtime for me. :)
  • The Windows 10 link only lasts for twenty four hours, so perhaps you can download that soon. Of course I can produce another link if necessary.

I've got to go out and fetch some dvd's and will fetch the memory too.
Was just about to order ssd when I can get Internet access lol.
It did it's back up - or said it did.

Don't forget to order the caddy at the same time, as you'll be putting your old drive into it....and check which CEX has stock before you turn up. :)

I looked to see if the Mobymemory place I ordered the drive from had got a caddy but none came up. Internet keeps going off on laptop so didn't get to look anywhere else. I'll ask at the memory place if they do them. They have the memory in stock at 3 local stores.
