    Hi all :j

Challenge: Oops forgot this one yesterday! Don't smoke & rarely drink either, so it has to be giving up unhealthy snacks. Trying hard to avoid snacks unless fruit/yog. Doing OK.

Organise. Start as you mean to go on. Know the contents of your fridge, freezer and cupboards. Plan your meals around them. Cook from scratch. Don't buy anything you can make unless cost /time taken dictates otherwise. If you are new to turtle challenges or still have full cupboards you could try living from the cupboards. Lunch was HM magic soup, sandwiches for DH. Supper was chicken biriyani, DH had a bit of leftover curry as well that DD brought home from her meal out.

Regular budget items should be set by 1st October. If you don't know how much you are spending on food or petrol, now is the time to find out. Question every purchase - need or want? No purchases today.

No Spend Days. Aim for 20 (high target) or 15 (low). Am aiming for 15 but hoping for more. Now 15/15.

Improvise. Make do and mend with a creative twist. think of a substitute ingredient, how to make an old/broken piece of furniture last a little longer. Found a occasional table top bit in cellar, hoping that it could be made whole again.

Exercise Four times a week at least (20 minutes minimum but can be done 10 minutes at a time). Get outside in daylight as often as possible. Outside this afternoon as a fine warm day. More painting on sunroom done, on the home straight now though. Access difficult on this last bit but put one coat on, it will need 2/3 more before it's finished. Then inside the open porch to do, plus front door, some windows, outside lodge...list goes on.

Christmas Cast on socks with sparkly yarn, did cuff but need different needles which I don't think I have.

Banned Will only be chippys normally with the odd takeaway planned for a celebration etc. No takeaways today.

Extra Income and Extra time Not today, still need to look out doll clothes, will do now.

Report in, daily if possible I'm here..

    Go turtles !!

    Entry for Monday:

Organise: Created savings account in on online current account for cycling hobby. Set monthly budget and set up direct debit. It will be interesting if my estimated budget will be close to actual spends, but hopefully it will help me to spend a little less too.

    NSD: 12/15.

Improvise: Couldn’t find pair of ankle boots I needed in shops, instead I purchased a brand new pair of Tesc0 ones via FB. Saved about £60 expenditure. I like the style and will be interested to see how long they last in comparison to my previous ones which lasted four years.

Income: Total extra income for October is £185.90. Not strictly income, but I learned from colleague today of a Pacel To Go broker service for competitive postage prices. Will investigate this to keep FB sales and purchases postage costs down.

QOTD: I don’t know where I got the impression that we were to include QOTD. It seems we weren’t meant to, but think I’ll carry on regardless!

    Hi all-

Sorry I was absent yesterday, MOT & car insurance were on the cards yesterday so I was busy organising those. I just need to send in our NCD & cancel our old insurance (which we paid for monthly). £560 for both in the end but insurance is now paid for for the year so I am chuffed with that.

Budgets set now until the end of Jan, a few cuts needed to ensure I could pay insurance & not touch our savings, I have cancelled something I had planned with work mates over xmas (Don't be a martyr for Xmas) & cancelled a restaurant booking for our anniversary in favour of a cheaper restaurant. I was reluctant to cancel the evening entirely as its our 6th wedding anniversary & we haven't had a meal alone since our 5th. All that matters is that we spend quality time together & the other restaurant is equally as lovely.
today is NSD #16. I was aiming for 15 but now I think I will aim for 20

Have a nice day all :D

Has been a spend day today. Brought a Christian devotional, tv mag and a glass butter dish from a cs.
Have added up everything for the month, as I am hoping it will make me not spend any more money for the rest of the month. Have everything in until next month eg food and toiletries. Made a list of what I have to get next month that is not food related.
Will spend the rest of the day chilling out, doing some household chores and self care. Did walk to and from flat/recycling point/cs.

  • Afternoon,

Today has been a spend day. I went for afternoon tea with a friend and spent £12.95. It was worth it and I've came home with some leftover cakes that I'll give to the boy after his tea.

I need to nip to the shops and pick up some things I said I would for work colleagues. I'll get the money back at the weekend.

The boy is also trying out a new sports club. It's his taster session today and if he enjoys it, I'll find money in our budget to fund this. It's not overly expensive.

So I'm still on 9/15 NSDs. I'll keep trying my best to reach target. I've no other plans for the week.

Today I am grateful for another sucessful swim school for dd, for dh doing a tip run, for pruning back one apple tree, for dd cutting herself some 'wand' material, for Miss Marple, for the washing machine, for friendly people, for a warm house, for having so much more than I need.

  • Only thing to report today, is that I have nothing to report as I made fatal mistake of taking change to work. Bad for spend and weight loss goals! Back on the wagon tomorrow!

    NSD: A stagnant 12/15!

    Hi all,
NSD 10/15. Will need milk and probably bread tomorrow. Lovely SW prawn and chilli linguine for tea, yum.
New temp was an hour late today due to (widely advertised) train strike. Not a great start. Sorted out my tax code so hopefully my pay will be right in a few weeks time.
Looking forward to having a couple of days off later this week. Two perm job applications to do tomorrow if get a chance.
    Hope all are going well.

Saving Glut quotes of the day are always welcome.

Spendy day for me. Had a list of odd items to buy but one of the places I intended to buy from has closed down - last week someone said she had moved but they were a bit vague on location ie ' up ........ road' (one of the longest in town). Was flagging so cut the shopping short and went to get my taxi to mum's.

However on the way back I went to Tessimo and have obtained some of the things on mum's pending list (earlier shopping was heavy partly because I bought 2 each of shampoo and conditioner for her as they were 4 for £3), one substitute for something on my list (which will save time but necessitated the purchase of an iron), some salad, some ys, wraps and some sandwich fillings and decaff coke (cutting back as consumption has risen again - only thing that took away the nasty taste when I was ill). Plus a beautiful emerald green jumper that was in the sale. The jumper and iron will have to come out of the money mum gives me for Christmas.

So late getting home but feel as though I am in front. Have finished sewing an item whilst at mum's and have finished the jgsaw and my current book.

Today I am grateful that the it did not rain, for getting things done and for finding some of the more obscure items on mum's list.

  • Hi, spending today so still at 11/15.

EXERCISE I walked and walked and walked around Reading town centre. I'm definitely classifying this as exercise

CHRISTMAS I bought 4 x 10cm strips of Christmas fabric from John Lewis to add to Christmas stockings I am making as presents. There's 20% of all Christmas fabric so this only cost me £2.86.

ORGANISE I bought a pair of navy padded winter gloves in preparation for the cold weather coming. I knew I needed a pair so one ticked off my list.

IMPROVISE I don't have room in my case for birthday presents I was given here. I had thought of buying a tote bag but instead I bought a 10p supermarket plastic bag. As it'll be going on the luggage rack tomorrow I've taped the top with broad sellotape to keep things secure.

I'm going to be travelling all day tomorrow but will have to buy tea etc so I'm afraid I'll be spending again xx
