They'll probably just want a number to contact people on if they need to contact them.0

The hold up is likely to be from the bank you're sending money from. A small test payment followed by a large payment will likely trigger a fraud warning.
I had my call earlier.
Still not there. No contact from Natwest yet! Its showing as gone on my Natwest account.
EDIT: apparently their fraud team have stopped it but it is not their policy to tell me and I just have to notice and then chase them up. ****** ridiculous. Never had this when a bank or CC suspect anything. They chase me!16 Panel (250W JASolar) 4kWp, facing 170 degrees, 40 degree slope, Solis Inverter. The Santander Select 123 account has other benefits not on the Lite account such as the shiny gold debit card, better access to cash (useful for paying the trade...) and best of all those ever so nice 24x7 Select people for whom nothing is too much trouble.

I downgraded from 123 to 123 Lite a couple of years ago. I'm still Select. I still have the shiny gold debit card. And I get 5% on the regular saver. But I've saved £4 a month.0 -
You're probably right. You can give them a landline number too, as an alternative. For some of us the quickest way to contact us is usually on the landline (a text usually takes several days to reach me, although I can pick up a voicemail via wifi and my Hullomail app). I know we're in a minority, but for those of us who don't have a mobile signal at home it's frustrating when banks don't give you an alternative (Santander and Bank of Cyprus are two I've come across). And don't get me started on getting my landline fixed when that goes down!0

Sad sign of the times. 7 pages, and counting, of the pros and cons of a 1.5% easy interest account.
Sigh!
And yes, I have opened oneSpace available for rent0 -
Just opened one, very smooth and quick, £1 transferred and confirmed immediately. Don't like email address as user id, prefer another code but can't have everything. The bonus amount of 0.15% is the extra I'm getting compared to Tesco or National Counties existing accounts.0

I'm thinking the same, all this interest (or lack of it) in 1.5% has everyone gone mad, not feeling the love for this one, i'll wait for the 1.51% due anytime soon.:rotfl:0 -
and i thought he died in 1904
(... yes, i did have to wikipedia it.)0 -
Set one up earlier
Two things
1. They support faster payments (giving the side eye to Virgin '1 business day or more' Money here)
2. Sign up process was painless.
I mean, it's difficult to get that excited about an easy access savings account paying 1.2% less than inflation, but seems the best of a bad bunch - good for emergency short term savings0 -
Okay, so I signed up to the Marcus saver account today.
The one thing that has really thrown me about the account is that it's a one stage log-in: an email address and a password. No second-stage authorisation at all.
I messaged UK Marcus on Twitter about my concern on security and they responded:

Hi there, thanks for your message. We take the security of your account very seriously. As well as your password, as part of our authentication procedure we run a number of checks in the background to help keep your account secure.

If I was intending to pop in a few hundred quid to the account, it wouldn't be such a worry, but I was thinking of transferring multiple £K's and I'm not entirely sure that the current set up is secure enough.
Anyone else having reservations? Or am I just too worried about hackers using brute force log-in tools?0
