Surely people that pay that amount of money for a mobile must be embarrassed to be seen with them. I remember when a member of our department sent a message with "sent from my iphone8" everyone was laughing at him. Getting a phone like that out of your pocket is like telling the world you are stupid.
Given all phones are pretty much black, very thin and oblong, whos every going to know what it is?
Not sure how its telling the world you are stupid either - as i said, whilst i wouldnt do it myself, i'd happily pay that sort of money for a good laptop because i use it a lot. I dont think that makes me look stupid even though i could buy some entry level one for £300.
If someone is getting similar use out of a phone and can / wants to spend that sort of dosh, who am i / are we to say they are "stupid"?0 -
you will not change these kind of peoples minds.
I'm all for people being called out individually when they make contradictory statements of what they like. or say.
But for whatever reason they can't let others spend their money how they see fit without calling them names or labelling them. They can't see that Apple customers come from all walks of life so to simply throw out such remarks is ignorant of what are many reasons people continue to buy Apple products.
It seems the longer people continue to buy iPhones (now 11 years) the more frustrated and irrational these people get
What gets me with (some) iPhone users is how they look down at us Android users and let's face it, iPhones ARE grossly overpriced. I have a OnePlus 6 and whilst it doesn't do everything an iPhone does, it does 90% at half the price. But if you've got the money and you want one then who am I to criticise?Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0 -

This thing of people looking down on others or judging others happens in all aspects of life. Also in this day and age of online comments it gets very polarising at times. For whatever reason some people forget we live in a society that gives us the freedom to choose what we want to do within laws. What phone you buy is not a crime or a crisis of morality against the country
There is no one single reason why people buy IPhones. Apple have hundreds of millions of customers so it’s just silly to throw out single reasons in ones argument.

Hopefully my current phone will keep going for a few years yet (I have a Windows Phone and I love it!)
However, reluctantly, I have come to the conclusion that when I do need to replace it, it will be with an iPhone. I do think they are stupidly overpriced but I just cannot get along with Android at all. I've tried, but I can't.
Added to this, my daughter and son-in-law (who is very tech competent/literate) both have iPhones so if I have a problem I can ask them for help
And I do love my iPad (although that is ancient and grumbling now and I need to replace it but iPadMini4 is now several years old already so in a dilemma about that too!)2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

If you can afford it get the iPhone 7 at £450 and the 9.7 iPad at £320. That way you can have the two things you use the most cheaper that the flagship iPhone.
Take a pop into an Apple store if possible and get a feel of those two items in person and i think you will like what you see. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Huawei phones (Android) use an EMUI interface ... to me the Standard home screen style is not unlike an iPhone.0

It can be both. Much like clothes - a basic version is more or less a necessity. Getting a top-of-the-range version is a fashion statement. £500 jeans don't work any better than £20 jeans, but people still buy them.0
