So I went to MCOL website, where I entered the claim number but I didn't see anywhere to input password printed on the Claim Form. Now, each time I go to https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk, it brings me to the page 'https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome', and the only button to progress is Login or Register, bottom right hand corner.
When I click that, it goes to a page 'Sign in using Government Gateway' asking for Government Gateway user ID and password. I haven't even registered myself yet for the purpose of using MCOL.
If I've previously had a Government Gateway user ID, does it know that...??0 -
try it if you already have a gateway account
if you dont , register , then login , then try the MCOL login and use the supplied reference to do just the AOS, nothing else
there is a guide in the newbies thread post #2
have you read it ?
also post the ISSUE DATE0 -
Apologies for more posting. I tried a Government Gateway user ID I have used before, but of course, it's been a long time and I forgot the password. I clicked on 'forgotton password', entered the number and my email address and it takes me to 'Reset with MoJ', after which it takes me to page 'Make a money claim online', but I am not the Claimant, rather, the Defendant.
So at the moment, I am unable to respond to this claim online... help!0 -
Twice this evening you have been asked for the Issue Date from your Claim Form.
As soon as you post that more guidance will be forthcoming.0 -
Thanks for your replies and advice. Sorry, I didn't notice all your messages, but have now. The issue date on the Claim form is 7 Nov 2019.0

Yes, I have read the guide in Newbies post re MCOL, I still haven't been able to login or create a new account. Could I just complete the AOS included with the Claim Form and send by post?
Then prepare the defence and send that separately by the due date?0 -
The issue date on the Claim form is 7 Nov 2019.
If you really can't manage to do that - note that you have nearly two weeks to get it right - then fill in the form and file the AoS in the same way and to the same email address as mentioned below for filing a Defence.
Having done the AoS, you have until 4pm on Tuesday 10th December 2019 to file your Defence.
That's four weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute.
When you are happy with the content, your Defence could be filed via email as suggested here:-
Print your Defence.
- Sign it and date it.
- Scan the signed document back in and save it as a pdf.
- Send that pdf as an email attachment to CCBCAQ@Justice.gov.uk
- Just put the claim number and the word Defence in the email title, and in the body of the email something like 'Please find my Defence attached'.
- Log into MCOL after a few days to see if the Claim is marked "defence received". If not chase the CCBC until it is.
- Do not be surprised to receive an early copy of the Claimant's Directions Questionnaire, they are just trying to keep you under pressure.
- Wait for your DQ from the CCBC, or download one from the internet, and then re-read post #2 of the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread to find out exactly what to do with it.
0 - Sign it and date it.

Thank you KeithP, I have already gathered info and looked at some example defence from this site, so will try and adapt to my case, then hone as much as I can with all your advice. Yes, I did see the Dropbox file, but was to not avail yet, will try again later.0

btw, I used to get notifications when there are new posts to this thread or replies to my posts, I don't seem to be receiving now. Is there a way to turn on, as such?0

I have located my email notifications on replies to my posts.0
