Now I'm BR, do I have to tell my employer?

When I went before the judge on Friday he told me that I would need to do this. Do I have too??

I don't think you do Ann

In fact I 'm 95% sure you don't. Why would you unless you are dealing with finances?

Do you work in finance where you are credit checked or hold a FSA regulated position? Is there anything in your contract/terms?

For most run of the mill employment they don't need to know.

If you are a lawyer or an MP or a judge that's a bit different.;)

  • I work for Tesco and I don't deal with anything financial apart from doing refunds for customers that have sent back goods that are unacceptable quality or they are just not wanted.

I'm not really frightened of doing so but I just don't want them to think any less of me for going bankrupt.:o

I wake up every morning and tell myself that things are gonna be better from now on. I'm looking forward to 2008 and there on I can wake up smiling and when I get paid now ITS ALL MINE!!!! well i know I have to pay the utilities and rent but its better than paying all those bills and having nuffin left.

    Roll on happiness. :D
  • Hi everyone

I'm really dreading the OR meeting/interview, I have no idea when its gonna be as I only went BR on Friday.

When I get nervous I start to bable.

What are the OR meetings like? What do they do?

I keep saying to myself that it will be ok but you just don't know. I know some of you may thing that I'm being silly but I really would love to keep my sky and internet its the only bit of entertainment I have for myself and my son, and how will I be able to stay in contact wid the kind friends (thats all of you)that things are looking better and this is the next best step to being happy???

  • OH interview is a week wed, so thats 2 weeks after he went b/c and its a telephone interview and we are also very nervous. Its because everyones situation is so different you can't read guidelines and think thats how its going to go because you don'r know what questions will be asked. I keep telling hubby he just needs to be honest, admit if you can't remember something and most of the questions he should be able to answer anyway - easy for me to say lol when its not me being interviewed.

The outgoings are for the OR to see if there will a surplus of income to pay the creditors via an IPA over the next three years, at the end of the day if he disallows your sky etc you can still keep it but would have to use the money you had put down for something else or out of any surplus after he has imposed an IPA if one is relevant.
We love what we are doing and we love why we're doing it!!

    Morning.

If your case is simple then they just go over your SOA with you, ask what some of the debts were for and find out why you became insolvent.

It's also one of the few chances you may have to talk in depth to your OR's examiner, so don't be afraid to quiz them back if you want to know anything or have any worries.

Unless you were in arrears there's no reason that sky/internet should be cancelled, but you will very probably have to find the money for them out of any surplus you have.

If the OR disallows them in your SOA but you have a surplus and it's less than £100 per month, that's how much you have per month to put towards sky/internet (or anything else they disallowed as essential).
If your surplus is £100 per month or more and the OR takes 50-70% under an IPA, then what you do with the 30-50% is up to you. If that goes on sky/internet that is your choice.

You will notice from the number of current BR's that post on this forum that keeping internet access is not normally a problem if you can pay for it.;)
