Are houses being dressed professionally?

I've been viewing lots of houses on rightmove lately - at the lower end of the market - and so many seem to have been dressed in a certain way. Not so much the strategically-placed colour-coordinated bed covering or vase that balances the curtains (though there is that), but I'm constantly seeing signs and stencils on walls - L-O-V-E - and short pithy platitudes about home and heart and so on. Is this a design trend that I've missed, or are estate agents/specialists putting these up in sellers' houses to make them more attractive?

It's a trend.
Go in any branch of Dunelm Mills and you will see the words 'live laugh love' emblazoned on almost everything.

Latest things are wooden carved words for your (well, not mine) bathroom shelf.......'soak' is a popular one.

Can't stand the sentiment myself.

It's not just there for the sales pics, for some unfathomable reason these things are genuinely popular with a lot of 20 and 30 somethings. Personally I think they're the height of naffness.

Ah right. I've been out of the loop for so many years now, I did wonder. Yes I've seen that SOAK one in a few houses! Not sure I'm keen either - a bit "Facebook meme" for my liking. Each to their own, though.

You're right, this just seems to be a massive trend, and it's absolutely awful. About half of the houses I looked at on rightmove when looking recently had this crap all over them. 'Kitchen is the heart of the home' stencilled onto the wall above the oven is another one you see a lot.

Yes, 'soak' above the bath, 'relax' above the sofa and 'eat' above the dining table. Makes you wonder what the people who buy these things hang above the loo.

It's just what the chavs are loving at the moment along with "feature" walls. Ignore it, it will pass (to something equally tacky and naff).
