I had my house valued. The estate agent gave me a 'home dresser' card. She will come and do anything from a 'free consultation giving ideas' right up to 'you move out for a week and come back to find the house transformed and ready to sell'.

My neighbours actually used her for this. They'd had the house on the market for 8 months at top price, however, it was rather a lived in family home (very nice really). They went on holiday, furniture put in storage, team came in to freshen up/decorate, some new carpets, some hired furniture - you get the idea....
The house was remarketed and sold in ten days for £7000 more than it had been on the market for at the start. I've no idea how much the home dresser charged

For the authentic 80s effect it's essential your avocado toilet is in a carpeted bathroom with a matching bidet alongside it :D

I grew up with this in the 70s. Yay, my parents were at the head of a (hideous) trend! :money:

Yep, seems to be the thing in Aberdeen right now - I suppose sellers are trying anything. The View nailed it a few years back (although Broughty Ferry is a bit further down the coast):

Superstar tradesman, stand at the bar
Get a trade son you will go far
You have a house in the Ferry and a new guitar
That's never been played before and it never will
Never been played before and it never will

Strange lyric, not really up there with "Born To Run" somehow.

I have been looking lately and noticed that 3 houses locally have sold quickly for excellent prices and when I go to look at the pictures, they look dressed, but what is odd is there is no soap at any of the sinks and no toilet paper! I do worry about their hygiene! So yes I would say some are being dressed. None have short pithy sayings, but if you are browsing pictures just have a look how many don't seem to sh*t! Or maybe it is just local to me that has a constipation issue.

Do you have links to the sold houses?
