Caught Speeding 49 in a 30.
Hold my hands up. Stupid and reckless. Had my NIP sent through, sent back and now just waiting for the punishment. Any idea what the likely outcome is? This is my first offence, been driving for 5 years and I know the speeding laws have now changed into bands. Is it going to be a hefty fine?

Think the cut off for the more serious punishment is 51mph.0

Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

The law hasn't changed, just the penalties if you go to court.
You are just inside the limit for a fixed penalty, 3 points and £100 fine.0 -
Just sit back and wait for the letter to come in, you will know for sure then.0

When you get official notice of the penalty (also don't forget to send your licence, read the instructions carefully as many get caught out) remember to contact your insurance co. Then you can look forward to a number of years of driving to the speed limits and that is no bad thing.0

You got off lightly - only £100 and I believe 3 points doesn't really make any noticeable difference to insurance premiums.
In future make sure you only speed in places where you're sure there are no speed cameras (I assume you got caught by a camera). My car even warns me where they are - get something similar to ensure you don't get caught again.
My local Facebook group warn when there are speed camera vans or speed traps around, so maybe join your local group so they don't catch you out either.0 -

Please tell me you are joking. The best way to avoid getting caught again is to obey the law and stick to speed limits.1 -

Does your car warn you about mobile sites used by the police?
Thought not, how about Reginald on the community speed watch is he a Facebook friend?0 -

That's what I used to think, but I've realised I'm wrong. The majority of people actively support speeding so, like Brexit, it's the will of the people.
In my experience, most drivers speed. And many by a large margin. In fact, I read recently that something like only 14% of drivers adhere to a 20mph limit. That's 86% that actively and demonstrably support speeding.
Speed cameras are bright yellow to give you extra warning. Cars can be legally fitted with devices that warn you of their location. When a mobile speed camera is in our village, I know because every car is frantically flashing me to warn other drivers and ensure they don't get caught. And if you do get caught, there's a change you'll be offered a speed awareness course (because apparently people might not be aware that you're not allowed to speed).
There is so much from all sides to support speeding, who am I to say they're wrong?0 -
The OP won't be getting offered a speed awareness course if caught at 49mph in a 30mph zone.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
