  • Hello :hello:
So nice to see the thread so busy at the moment :T
No crochet for me tonight - I'm just too busy. Ziggy, I'm in the middle of making a blanket to fit a king sized bed. It's taking a while but I do enjoy it - however I'm a sewing hater. I could never get the hang of it when my mam tried to teach me, and I even hate sewing the ends of my wool in. :rotfl: I have plans to make lots of socks as gifts but that may be ambitious as I've never actually made socks before...
I need a whole day of being indoors to have a go at chutney making, but it's planned for a weekend or October half term, definitely.
Work continues to wipe me out, and coupled with the stress of the divorce and my current financial situation I am incredibly up and down at the moment. Today I've been productive at work, but I also had some exam stuff that I needed to do so I've spent all evening doing that. I'm pleased that I can tick it off my list, before my 8pm finish tomorrow night. It's open evening to try and recruit for next year so I'm already on a late one, but then at least that will be out of the way as well.
    I have bagged a nsd though, so that's good. I can't spend what I don't have :rotfl:

    Hi All

Not done a great deal at all today apart from lay on the sofa with a hot water bottle as shocking pain between shoulders and achy chest (think its this silly cough), managed the very basics

    Checked Bank & Made PAD
Checked: Lucky Bob, Tombola, WinaDinner and FPL
    Swagbucks
    Topcashback (free clicks)
    Finished library book
    All meals from cupboards

Envious of all the crafting I have seriously lost my mojo :o

  • Sorry you're poorly Ziggy hope the pain eases soon
Hello :hello: to all the newcomers- as cat said, lovely to see the thread so busy. Stick with us.
Frugal saver have you got an NCT sale near you loads of fantastic bargains to be had there for good quality clothes

Another full day at work, so my list is minimal but looks something like this:
Reconciled just for points cc - have 2 work expenses on there I must claim
    Check banking
    Something from freezer for tea
Look at online butcher for deals we have some beef shin last night from there in the sc and it was amazing, portion left over for DH lunch today
Hm soup for lunches, going to see if I can avoid taking cake as I'm trying to be good :o
Pick some more tomatoes, first plant has nearly ended but second one is giving me daily gifts. Hoping the 'tag' that came with it is under the plant when I dig it up as they've been great varieties that I would look out for again. I reckon I've had in excess of 200 tomatoes off the 2 plants with about another 50 to go and that was just planting them out, no greenhouse. Definitely worth 80p each or whatever I bought them for.
Quick shower and hair dry naturally
    Sew up those trousers :rotfl:

Have a good day folks. Purps.

Morning purps :D why don't you take some seeds from one of the tomatoes, dry them out and save for next year? I'm so jel of your tomato plants! Combination of weather and planting late has meant we have had hardly any this year :(

Another day off - hurrah! Another day of testing out my new machine - double hurrah! Today I am going to finish my quilt :j it's a bit of a challenge for me as it is a large quilt and I've only ever done 2 baby ones, I've never used spray adhesive or a walking foot - so exciting! In the last week & a bit I have taken 6 things out of my to do pile and they are now in my wardrobe :T

    other than that:

    [STRIKE]* read newsletter[/STRIKE]
    * flylady upstairs
[STRIKE]* check banking & pay a couple of bills[/STRIKE]
    * roast beef for dinner - will bake a cake & roast some veg while oven is on
    * photo and list a couple of things for fleabay
    * get house ins - lapsed a couple of months ago :o
    * paint bonding/cover paint over patch on ceiling where we had a leak
    * might take in a top - depends on whether I finish my quil
    * need to find someone to repair window. It's come away slightly from pvc frame and with the colder months coming....
    * do some form of exercise
    * file away a load of paperwork sitting on kitchen side

Ok that's enough. Happy Wednesday everyone

    Morning all!

ziggy - I hope you feel better soon

ccl - you are doing better than you realise. Hang in there xx Have a go at the socks, I've never really knitted and found it failry easy to pick up. The heel and gusset was the fiddly bit but just needs concentration.

purps - I too am jealous of your toms. DNMS - we only have a few green ones to show for our efforts :( the sun went away just as they developed.

ally - I hope work ok

I'll confess to being another one who isn't keen on sewing. I did textiles GCSE and so apparently I can, but I think that lack of practice makes it a bit scary and stressful for me. I keep telling myself that I should alter my own clothes etc but then stare at the sewing machine in horror. I hate having to try and get it going, wind bobbins, naff about with tension etc.

It's my "Friday" so just another small list for me:
    • B/L/D from stores
    • OH hopefully to do housework not done yesterday
    • Gym at lunchtime - done. Some nice pleasing heavy deadlift sets today.
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • Bit of a tidy round
    • Possibly start gloves
    • Get washing in
    Have a good one all

  • different strokes for different folks I guess! I love all that stuff about sewing clf. The scratching my head trying to work out how to do something, researching, trying it out, getting it wrong having to unpick it and work out what went wrong and how to rectify it, getting it right - such a buzz. I realise I actually enjoy tailoring clothes more than making from scratch

I very much admire those who do sew. I keep revisiting it to try again! I have to get the machine out tomorrow actually to fix OH's jeans... maybe I'll take in that summer dress. Or hem the tablecloth that I've had for 3 years :D
