Well, I did mend them.... eventually :rotfl::rotfl: I am a terrible procrastinator :D - I do hate sewing though, even more than ironing :o

WHAT???! That's CRAZY talk Dawn :eek::eek: sewing is the BEST

I just got a new machine :j - 24 stitches - my current/old one (I bought for £10 off of ebay about 7 or 8 years ago. It's a singer starlet and by the looks of the manual it was probably made in the late 60s/early 70s. It's done me a great turn but now my abilities (and ambition - am thinking of starting to offer tailoring ) are growing I *need* one with more functions

I got it £100 less than my budget and amongst the accessories is a walking foot so I'm finally going to finish my nautical throw/quilt :j just in time for the colder months.

Honestly feeling old to be so excited about a sewing machine :rotfl:

Urghhhhhh not such a little thing, I've got to decide whether to work weekends or not. I work full time already, offered a job that would net me about £500 a month after tax on top of my normal wages.

In other news, I've ordered that book Allydowd recommended - so am going to teach myself bike mechanics!

Post facebook sale (paid by paypal)
    post another amazon book sale

I actually have a sewing machine, a really old manual singer, one of the black ones with gold decoration. I bought it because it is pretty, and I like old things :o I might even use it one day - it works perfectly, only does straight stitch, but my 'skills' are such that sewing in a straight line would be sufficient challenge :rotfl:

    Hi,
Thanks for your kind wishes. Today's efforts:
*Ironing - switched off for last garment.
*Gathered more windfall apples & made 9 jars of apple & ginger jam.
*Last of the rubber pork will be used in a curry tonight, also a home grown green pepper.
*Ate more courgette & watercress soup for lunch & froze remaining 3 portions.
*Swapped a dress with my sister. Really like it but it's a bit too big. Must see if it can be taken in without spoiling it.
*Knitted a bit more of a Christmas gift I'm working on.
*Found warmer duvet ready for changing bed linen this week - because no way is the heating going on in September....that would just be wimpy.

Have you ever watched the Victorian Farm where the Italian chap is trying to teach Ruth to sew on an old machine. He is so funny!

Ours only gets used for repairs and shortening trousers to elf-length. This despite DW starting life as a tailor.

 Make families lunches for tomorrow done and realised I'd forgotten to get bread rolls today so we have used the couple of rolls we had left for ds2 & 1 for dh, and packed the leftover pasta salad with salmon for dh & ds1 - shopping from home first at its best!

Might not get it all done as I've only just got home so going to finish my cuppa and crack on!

    Take care all.

Think I've done ok considering how tired I'm feeling. Going to make a list for tomorrow and make sure I have a better day.

Dnms, great news coming in that far under budget!!

Dawn, I'm not a sewing fan either would much rather do the ironing.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

From yesterday....posted on the wrong thread again! :rotfl: Someone slap me if I do it again.

At least you managed to post, I wrote mine and posted it but somewhere on the interweb in took a wrong turn :(

    Today's list was:
    Renew library loans
Request a book from the library
Go shopping and stick to the list
Put all the shopping away (I loathe putting the shopping away)
    B/L/D from stores
    HE children for free
Transfer martial arts training fees, much reduced due to paying a lump sum in advance and sibling discount :j
    DW set to run overnight
    WM set to run overnight
Pack snacks & drink for today's activity

I'm sure I have done other things just no idea what.

CLF your blanket is amazing :T

Regarding the discusion on heating. Normally I like to keep the heating off as long as possible, often mid November, but it does depend on the weather, I encourage the use of layers, hot water bottles, blankets. Things will be different this year, my parents are selling up and moving in with us whilst they look for a new place. As a result the heating will need to go on when they move in, as my Mum in particular feels the cold.

  • Good evening everyone.

Didn't post this morning as my list would have been the same as yesterday.

Managed to do everything on the list including studying.

I also ended up spending £20 on clothes for LO. Realised while getting her dressed this morning she can't wait until Christmas for new clothes (3 yo in age 5-6 ). I got 7 tops and 1 pair of trousers for that plus £3.40 cashback from TCB which will go straight towards debt when it clears.

Unsure whether to apply for a student card (NUS extra or whatever it's called now) as I'm eligible with the studying I'm doing. Think it's about £12 for 18 months but when I first had a look I didn't think there was anything I would really benefit from.

Need to catch up on this post. Befor heading to bed
