I'm a bit new to this but after reading around on the forum I'm starting to grasp it's the small things that make all the difference. So I usually go to a cafe and spend £4 for my work lunch per day but today I decided to go to Lidl and get two mini focaccias which cost me £1. I know it's probably still a lot compared to other options but I thought it was a good first step in the right direction. Only trouble is I don't think I could do the same when winter weather comes along and although I could eat in the office it gets quite stressful there which is why I like to get out.0

Today I’ve;
Walked to and from school, instead of using car. 3 y/o was saying his legs were hurting but I’m sure he’ll survive
Popped a roast chicken in, that’s today’s and tomorrow’s dinner sorted.
Checked all my survey sites and caught up on the video apps.
Checked the bank account and budgets for this week.
Started looking and price comparing for Christmas :eek:0 -

I need to do an audit of all of our plugs. Have noticed my son cannot seem to turn his lamp off so thinking of getting a time for it. Same for the plugs in the study, no need for my laptop to be charging all day so might set a timer on that as well that means its off when I am at work
It will likely be better for the laptop battery as well. I'm fairly sure that charging things all the time ruins the batteries. It certainly does for mobile phones.LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.31Student loan repaid: 01/07/2019SAVINGS: £20,000Car final lump sum: £6113/£61130 -
Evening all :coffee:
I have survived another full teaching day, with duty day as well - but I am shattered. As always, once school ticks round I get very little else done that's not school related.
Good news is that my cleaner has been today, which is brilliant after a busy weekend and day.
Not such good news is that tiles have started to fall off the wall in the bathroom (I could actually cry) but better news is I have a man that will sort it all out for me if I can just get the money. To be honest I'm stressing as much about money now as I did before we started our dmp all those years ago, so it's more important than ever that I do the small things. Although I can't envisage ever getting rid of my cleaner - I need that so much at the minute for my own wellbeing.
Packed lunch
Planned spend on cleaner only
Checked that the heating still works after hearing a couple of scare stories. It does (phew) but I switched it straight back off again much to dd's disgust :rotfl:
Continue to crochet Christmas gifts (2 in 1 as good for my wellbeing and sorts Christmas stuff out)
I have started my exam board work but I've needed to take a break. It's a lot of reading scientific papers which can be tough going. Going back to it after my internet time tonight.
CLF - I love your blanket, and didn't notice your toes until you pointed it out. :rotfl:
Welcome to all of the new people.
Oh, and lovely Foxgloves has given me an 'easy' chutney recipe to try so I am determined to make some time over the next few weekends to have a go at it with me freebie preserving kit. That's on the list for a less busy time...Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Hello Monday Money Wranglers,
Stressful day as Mum v low now, as well as extremely poorly & no sign of her leaving hospital atm, if at all. So kept myself busy with frugal activity:
*2 baths from 1 lot of hot water.
*Overnight laundry on cheap tariff. Pegged outside to dry for free.
*Picked some pears.
*Labelled 10 jars of brown sauce made yesterday & packed away in pantry.
*Made Kashmir chutney using another 1kg of our windfall apples.
*Made courgette & watercress soup for my lunch. Plenty left for tomorrow.
*Did rubber pork - it did roast dinner last night, hot pork cobs with apple sauce & chunky home made coleslaw tonight & will do a curry tomorrow.
*Baked a sourdough loaf.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Filled tiny snack boxes with dried fruit.
*Did budget update, transferred funds around to keep different 'pots' straight & paid a CC.
*Paid another 4 x 50ps into my sealed pot.
*Free leisure tomight as intend to finish library book & maybe knit my handwarmer.
No heating on here until at least October. It isn't cold enough if we are warmly dressed, & being careful now will save money for the real winter months when we really do need the heating on.
Anyway, that's my day,
