For the record I haven't received the above email (yet).. I suspect their 'small number of cases' isn't that small at all.. but I wonder if they are dealing with this on an ad-hoc basis. There does seem to be inconsistency... nothing new to EE by the looks of it."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0

Just on online chat to EE now.
The operator started off by stating "The terms and conditions state it is a variable tarrif", then they tried "Any incorrect information is down to an administrative error."
After pushing back a few times, they finally came back with "You agreed to the terms and conditions of the contract. However if you can provide all the account infomation and the documents wiht fixed tariff on them i can rasie this to be investigated."
So needless to say, i've provided the required info and now have to wait "up to 10 days" for someone to look at it and get back to me....
What a company!!! (And not in a good way). My intention is to fight them on this and win, whether through EE or through the Ombudsman. I'll then ride out the fixed rate period and switch away as quickly as possible, never to return.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

Not a customer with this company in any way but well done to those who are pursuing this and holding Economy Energy to account. It is a shame that it is down to individuals to take action on this when Economy Energy and to some extent the comparison sites, the ombudsman and Ofgem collectively hold some responsibility for this foul up. How many other innocent customers who are not as engaged will end up paying higher charges if Economy Energy are allowed to get away with this blatant "administrative error".0

Me neither, but I'm watching this with great interest. I hope you all get the justice you deserve. EE are a complete disgrace and should be relieved of its operating licence immediately.
MSE seem strangely quiet on the subject.0 -

Very much this ^^^
Bulb put their prices up 11% and it gets high profile with MSE in the newsletter and on the MSE News page. EE put theirs up 88% AND try to do it to people on fixed tariffs and MSE say nothing...A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

I am upping my campaign and have just spoken to Which? (I am a member). I have asked for their assistance in this matter. I now have six prongs of attack. I regard this as a consumer rights issue of principle.

I got a response from Cheap Energy Club but it was rather wishy washy. I quite understand that an energy company's increasing prices for variable price customers represents a normal commercial decision. Here we have a company side stepping fixed price contracts and increasing prices by up to 88%.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. They will be honoring my Fixed price tariff guaranteed until 6/2019.
Job done.
Thank you all for the rumpus we caused.

Well done, Andy. Let's us just hope that the next message is not that they are increasing your direct debit because of the price rise. Will they confirm in writing?I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0
